The main house was the one-time residences of the

home to the Diocese of Chester in the late 1960’s.
The centre is regularly used for the training of
anglican clergy, parish week-ends and study days.
But the home is open to people of all faiths or none.

and he answered me.
From deep in the realm of the dead I called for
help, and you listened to my cry.”
Retreat leader, Vivien Gisby writes -
10.15 Welcome and introductions
10.30 Coffee

“For many people the Book of Jonah is a simple
chilhood tale of a scared man swallowed by a
giant fish.
...followed by quiet time for reflection
12.45 Lunch
13.30 Address 2
...followed by quiet time for reflection
14.45 Recollection and Evening Prayer
But by digging a little deeper into the story one
soon gilmpses there is some very profound
teaching about God’s love for his people. A love
which can be tested to the limit, and beyond yet it is a love which never fails.“

Please think about joining us and consider
whether you might like to invite someone else
whom you feel would appreciate this day
together.
VIVIEN GISBY was brought up in Bradford but
has lived in a number of different parts of the
country in latter years.
Vivien has worked as both a professional
librarian and an information scientist but is now
the Vicar of the parish of St John the
Evangelist, Weston, in the Diocese of Chester.
Vivien writes - “I came to faith soon after we
moved to Macclesfield in 1994 and was a
Reader for several years and also one of the
leaders of a church plant before I was ordained
in 2008.
I have three grown-up children. I enjoy singing,
walking my border terrier, doing cross stitch,
eating out and going to the cinema with my
family. I have a particular interest in helping
people to grow
in their faith
and enjoy
running
courses,
retreats and
study groups.
