Why should you attend this workshop? The training provides an overview of the following: Child Development theory Basic concepts and impact of stress and trauma Sensory processing approaches and considerations for individuals who experience trauma Strategies and recommendations to create a therapeutic ecology What is Play Therapy? Including Case Study (a Trauma Informed and Developmentally appropriate approach) Who should attend? Family workers, community workers, settlement & multicultural workers, teachers, early intervention workers and others working with families & children Angie May Zappala Is a Behaviour Practitioner, registered Counsellor and Certified Play Therapist. Angie is currently working with the Department of Family and Community Services (ADHC) and is the principal therapist at Just Be Creative Counselling, a trauma-informed practice located in Western Sydney. Angie has almost 10 years of experience working with and supporting children, young people and adults with complex trauma, emotional, behavioural and attachment difficulties. Her clients come from a diverse range of backgrounds and often with complex co-morbid presentations including intellectual disability, mental health, psychopathology and criminology. Marina has a great passion and expertise in assisting families of children with developmental disabilities to maximize their child’s potential development. Utilizing a relationship and play based developmental approach in promoting the building blocks of healthy emotional and behavioural development. Marina has 19 years experience working with families with children who are experiencing developmental delays due to challenges with sensory processing, social & emotional regulation, relating and engagement. Marina is also the mother of a child with autism and personally understands the journey of love, adventure and challenges faced by families.
