“Racism…. A phenomenon that results in avoidable and unfair inequalities in
power, resources or opportunities across groups in society. It can be expressed
through beliefs, prejudices or behaviours/practices and can be based on
race, ethnicity, culture or religion”…..Paradies et al 2009
This workshop will provide challenges and support as you explore how white privilege and
racism impacts everyone on a daily, interpersonal and societal level.

 An understanding of the key concepts of racism
 Tools to recognise instances of advantage and oppression in our daily lives
 Ways to address racism in your own lives, your role or organisation
 Confidence to apply bystander anti-racism strategies

TRAINER Tatiana Lozano
Tatiana’s interests lie in human rights education and how transformative
education can be used to challenge prejudice. As a consultant her work involves
developing educational opportunities that allow people to understand and unpack
their own assumptions and actions. Recently, she headed up the UWS Equity and
Diversity education projects. Tatiana has worked in the area of racial equality and
bullying prevention using a range of platforms including workshops social media
and art–based events like film festivals. She comes to the area of education having
worked as a community lawyer in NSW and NT. Tatiana finds working through
education on social change more challenging and satisfying than seeking
resolution or change solely through the legal system
