Dr. Danny Humble, Superintendent Galena R-II School District PO Box 286 Galena, MO 65656 Phone: (417)357-6027 April 7, 2015 Election Information Questions and Answers Will this bond issue raise my taxes? No, this is a NO TAX INCREASE bond issue and voter approval will not increase the District’s current debt service levy, which is dedicated to repayment of the bonds. The current debt service fund levy is adequate to repay the $1,250,000 of new bonds. The Galena R-II School District is asking for support from the public to fund additions to the existing Galena High School & Abesville Elementary buildings in order to provide additional space and tornado shelter for the students and staff. Will my taxes go down if I vote “no” on this No Tax Increase bond issue? No. It is currently the Board of Education’s policy to maintain a debt service of approximately $0.6154. The debt service policy is both fiscally responsible and helps to ensure prudent use of resources and plan for future district needs.
