General Information
Please read all of the following information BEFORE asking the
coaching staff!!
Important Dates:
1. Packet Due to coach: No later than May 18th
Please give to – Blair White or Jennifer Messer
2. Tryout Clinic: Monday, May 18th – Wednesday, May 20th – 3:15-5:00
3. Tryouts: Thursday, May 21st – 3:15-5:00 (or when everyone is finished)
4. Mandatory Team Meeting (athlete & parent): Thursday, May 28th@5:30
5. Mandatory Apparel Fitting: Tuesday, June 2nd
–Varsity: 3:30pm
–JV: 4:30pm
6. $20 Deposit Due: June 2nd
7. Final Payment Due: June 26th
Important Information
1. There is a financial responsibility that comes with cheerleading. Both
Varsity and JV cheerleaders will be required to purchase new warmups,
shoes, bags, and bows this year. Although we do NOT have a final cost yet,
we can only provide estimates at this time. We do not plan to do any
fundraising at this point. Please note that your purchase of new
apparel does not secure your spot on any Ashbrook High School
cheer team in the future. You must tryout every year.
Uniform - $200
Warmup - $170
Shoes - $75
TShirts - $20 (due at parent meeting)
Everyone must be PAID IN FULL before the company will send us our team
gear. June 26th is the last possible date to be sure all parts are shipped
before our first game.
3. Mandatory practices begin August 3rd. Time TBA.
4. All practices are mandatory throughout the year unless you have prior
permission to be absent.
5. All grades are eligible to make Varsity, however 9th and 10th graders may
choose to tryout solely for JV.
Requirements to Tryout
(If you were removed from team for any reason at any point
throughout the year, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO TRYOUT!!)
1. Must be rising 9th– 12th grader
2. Must have passed 3 out of 4 courses (HS) and 6 out of 8 courses (MS)
based on first semesters report card. Must also be passing all current
classes.
3. Must have a 2.0 GPA
4. Must meet the attendance requirement with no more than 10 absences
5. Must have a current physical
6. Must return all paperwork including teacher recommendations by May
18th
Clinic & Tryout Information
1. All those planning to tryout must be in the gym, seated by 3:15 in
proper clothing.
2. Clothing for clinic- tennis shoes, shorts or jogging pants, t-shirts
and sports bra.
3. Hair must be pulled all the way up. No jewelry.
4. Tryout Day:
i. Black shorts
ii. Plain White t-shirt
iii. Tennis shoes
iv. Hair all the way up
v. No jewelry (earrings, nose rings, belly rings, etc)

Teacher Evaluation (Attached at bottom)
You must have 3 teacher evaluations completed by 3 CURRENT teachers. These must be given to Ms.
Messer by the teacher or placed in Ms. Messer’s box by the teacher. Middle school teachers may place
them in the courier. Any evaluation by YOU will not be accepted.
Physical form can be downloaded from website. Must be turned in to coach before you can
practice or tryout!!
Statement of Permission and Agreement
If you make the cheerleading squad, realize that you are making a commitment to Ashbrook High School,
your coaches, your teammates, and yourself for the complete season (full year). The decision to tryout
should not be taken lightly. You will be expected to put cheerleading as one of your top priorities.
Furthermore, as a representative of Ashbrook, you must maintain proper behavior at all times. You must
follow the cheerleading guidelines set forth by your coaches. Students who break the rules will be
disciplined. By making this commitment to the Ashbrook High School Cheerleading program, you will
receive many valuable and rewarding educational experiences that you will remember long after you
graduate from high school. These activities will not only channel your enthusiasm and spirit in a
constructive and beneficial manner, but will give you a sense of pride and accomplishment in being a part
of a group that has earned the reputation as one of the finest in the state of North Carolina.
