Department of Biomedical and Translational Informatics
Geisinger Health System (GHS) is seeking researchers and clinical investigators to be part of a developing program of
research and training in biomedical and translational informatics.
The Department of Biomedical and Translational Informatics will: develop a transdisciplinary research and training
program with a goal of fostering interdisciplinary research and teaching biomedical and health informatics in order to
improve the health of individuals and the community; provide institutional leadership for discovery and dissemination of
innovative solutions to real world problems in health care through programs of research, education, collaboration, and
service; integrate computer science and information science to manage and communicate data, information and
knowledge.
The Department will: work closely with physicians, researchers, senior informaticists and leaders throughout the
organization to identify opportunities to leverage IT as a strategic asset for the realization of informatics research at
Geisinger; establish the Geisinger Medical Informatics fellowship including the development of curricula, fellow and
faculty recruitment and oversight of ongoing ACGME congruent fellowship activities; and participate in the strategic
development of infrastructure and capabilities to extend the scope, quality and rigor of informatics research at
Geisinger.
The search is broad, and areas of interest include:






Clinical Informatics including Human Factor Engineering, clinical data standards and clinical workflow re-design
Clinical Research Informatics
Translational biomedical informatics
Public and population health informatics
Consumer health informatics
Imaging informatics
Joint appointment in one of Geisinger’s research centers or institutes is also possible, as are academic appointment in
regional universities.
