Blessed with substantial natural resources, Indian intellectual capital is making use of the latest technological knowhow to make India proud through self reliance in almost all major sectors of its development. Some of our breakthroughs in the fields of food and milk production, IT sector, Neno technology, Chandrayan, Mars Mission, ballistic missile production etc. have already attracted the world's attention as well as loud appreciation. Manufacturing and Small and Medium Enterprises Sector (SMES) is also registering an appreciable growth and providing gainful employment to the millions of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled manpower. Further, individual entrepreneurship endeavours received boost from the policy support measures taken by the State. Contribution of this sector is helping in substituting imports with indigenous production. Though India still has to go a long way to be fully self-reliant, however over a period of time, Balance of Payment situation of the country has shown positive trend, which is a good signal for our economy. In order to accomplish its development agenda, nation needs competent manpower at various levels, not only to discharge the present set of duties and responsibilities effectively and efficiently; but also successfully handle the ever growing diverse international changes and challenges on various fronts. In this context, education being the powerful empowerment tool for peaceful social transformation has to play a prominent role in translating development agenda into reality. Academia and the industry, complementing and supplementing each other's development efforts are to take up this call and produce manpower needed in different domains and levels, be it engineering and technology, manufacturing, processing and services, sales and marketing and so on and so forth. Against this backdrop, the Institute is organizing a 'National Seminar on 'Make in India: Academia-Industry Interface' with the following objectives: OBJECTIVES To analyse the role of academia-industry interface for the success of Make-in-India ● Mission; ● To identify critical areas having shortage of quality manpower, reasons thereof and the role of industry in bridging this gap at various levels; ● To discuss the modalities of more closer interface of academia and industry and adoption of academic institutions by industries to develop them as incubation centers; ● To critically evaluate entrepreneurship development policy measures and the private endeavors: Issues and Challenges; and ● To suggest a judicious mix of the government and private sector initiatives and actions, on short term and long term basis, to make India self-reliant. TARGET PARTICIPANTS Participation is open to Corporate/Industry persons, Academicians, Researchers and BSchool students. In order to ensure enriched deliberations and focused discussion, experts will be invited to the Seminar to share their rich field experiences with the participants. Session III: Innovations and Entrepreneurship (0230 PM - 0430 PM) v Support of Industry for Creating Innovative Culture. v Developing Educational Institutions as Incubation Centers: Role of Industry.
