Winners Announced
Entries poured
in for the Fall 2014 Photo Contest and after
reviewing
the numerous adult and youth submissions, the official
selections for
the contest have been announced! Each selected
photograph
captured the Spirit of Glen Ellyn in many different
ways. The
exciting photographs featured in the Fall 2014 contest
incorporates the beauty of nature, traditions and the excitement
of
living in Glen Ellyn.

critical to
ensuring the
Village's
youngest

Volunteer Fire Company Seeking New Members
For the past 107 years, the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire
Company has
served the residents of Glen Ellyn, responding to calls
for help,
day or night. During these 107 years, only a few hundred
men
and women have shown the dedication to be able to wear the Fire
Company uniform and serve. These are your neighbors, these our
our
friends and they represent all who call Glen Ellyn home. In
2014, the
Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company responded to 1350
calls for
service.
The Fire Company is seeking individuals who have a sense
of
commitment to our community and are up to the challenge of
providing the residents of the Glen Ellyn Fire Protection District
with the high level of service they deserve. Candidates must be:
21 years of age.
Live within one mile
of the Fire Protection District
boundaries.
Able to pass a
thorough physical and background check, at
Fire Company expense.
Able to perform
physically strenuous work.
Willing to dedicate a
substantial amount of time to training
during the first 12-18
months while on probationary status.
Dedicated to serving
others as an uncompensated volunteer.
Looking to be part of
a small, dedicated and highly trained
team of first responders.

Volunteers Needed for
Fourth of July Celebration Volunteers are needed for this year's Picnic in the Park
on
Saturday, June 27 and the 4th of July Parade on Saturday, July 4.
Over 150 volunteers are required to help stage these memorable
events
each year. Even donating one or two hours to make the
events fun and
safe is appreciated. Volunteering can be done
online at the Glen Ellyn 4th of July
Committee website.
