SESSION I ($145) Tuesday | Angela Hupp Angela Hupp returns to visit the AV from San Francisco State University, where she is currently the assistant coach for the Gators. Previously, Hupp was assistant coach for Pierce College where during her tenure they won back-to-back Western State Conference titles as well as a state title. Hupp also coached club volleyball for Santa Monica Beach Club as well as Los Angeles Volleyball Academy. While in the AV, Hupp was an AVC VB Camper, where she met her future college coach, volleyball legend, Jeff Stork. Hupp is a graduate of Paraclete High School, where she was a standout player for the Spirits and was named Alpha League MVP, earned First Team All-League honors and was named Best All-Around Player (2002 and 2003), Daily News Player of the Year and a member of the All-Antelope Valley team (2005). Hupp played for Santa Monica Beach Club and went on to play for Cal State Northridge where she was both a setter and hitter for the Matadors. As a Matador, Hupp earned the following accolades: Big West Freshman of the Year (2006), Big West First Thursday | Guilherme Koepp Guilherme Koepp visits the AV from Brazil. He currently coaches for Gold Medal Squared camps all over the nation as well as Aero Volleyball Club. In high school, Koepp played for Barao do Rio Branco in Brazil. Koepp also played for the Brazillian national team where he won the following awards: FIVB gold medal (2009), Superliga bronze medal (2009). After his international experience, Koepp came to the US to play volleyball for Cal Baptist University where he became a national champion in the NAIA (2011). He is the first athlete in CBU history to have 400+ kills and 200+ digs in the NCAA Div. 2. Koepp graduated from Cal Baptist University with a degree in international business and is currently completing a Master’s Degree in Business from CBU. I am registering for : SETTING AND DEFENSE REVIEW, DRILLS AND TEAM STRATEGIES REGISTRATION FORM Monday | Mike Bird We are honored to have Mike Bird back in the AV for summer volleyball camp. He was the first volleyball coach for Highland High School and was very successful during his tenure, winning numerous league titles as well as becoming a CIF finalist in 1994. He coached multiple players who have gone on to the next level both as players and coaches. From a few state champions, a few national champions, some All-Americans and even one Olympic gold medalist, Bird was instrumental in the growth of his AV players. Now teaching physics in San Diego, he continues his successful coaching and mentoring at Mt. Carmel High School, Tri City Christian High School (CIF champions), Firebird Volleyball Club and Seaside Volleyball Club. While attending Calabasas High School, Bird was a multi-sport athlete. After attending Pierce College, he transferred to Cal State Northridge where he became a 4-year starter, two years as a setter and two years as an outside hitter. He captained his senior season and led the team in passing percentage, digs per set and kills. Bird also earned a AAA beach volleyball rating and played professionally in the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) with his brother, Russ Bird. Bird graduated from Cal State Northridge with a degree in mathematical physics. He also has a Master’s degree in educational technology from Grand Canyon University. Wednesday | Branden Higa Branden Higa returns to visit the AV from Cal Baptist University, where he is in his fourth season as head coach. Previously, Higa was the assistant coach for Mississippi State University, Loyola Marymount University, and Lipscomb University. He was also head coach for West LA College. In addition to coaching at universities and colleges, Higa has also coached for various club programs such as South Bay Volleyball Club, Santa Monica Volleyball Club and Santa Clarita Athletic Club and was assistant coach with USA Beach Volleyball. Higa played for Quartz Hill High School where he was a two-time All-League player as well as an All-CIF player. He went on to play for Pierce College under legendary coach, Ken “Big Daddy” Stanley, where his team was state finalist and he won the State Player of the Year award. After Pierce College, Higa went on to play at Pepperdine University for another legendary coach, Marv Dunphy. Higa graduated from Pepperdine University with a double-major degree in international studies and public relations. He also has a Master’s Degree in Education from Mississippi State University. • SERVING AND PASSING HITTING AND BLOCKING AVC VOLLEYBALL CAMP Monday–Thursday July 6–9, 2015 Who: Girls & Boys Grades: Entering 9th through college Time: 12–3 p.m. Cost: $160 Team (2008 and 2009). She finished her Northridge career in the top-10 in six categories. Hupp took a year off from coaching in order to play professionally abroad for the Club Feel Volley Alcobendas, in Alcobendas, Madrid, Spain. She served as the team’s starting setter and team captain and helped guide the club to a Super League 2 championship.
