THANKS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION OF THIS GIVING OPPORTUNITY. The Meadows would like to express their deepest sympathy to the family of Dave Schulte. Dave recently lost his courageous battle with cancer and passed away last month. Dave is the son of Ruth Schulte, tenant at The Meadows. Our thoughts and prayers also extend to the family of Duane Streicher. Duane passed away suddenly last month, he is a brother-in-law to Ron Wilhelm, tenant at The Meadows. Birthdays 3 Adorine Kaiser 6 Alice Foster 25 Margaret Miller The Meadows adds AED The Meadows Assisted Living community has recently purchased an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to add to their crash cart with financial assistance from Regional Medical Center’s Fund and Resource Development Advisory Committee. The Good Neighbor Society is pleased to have partnered with RMC on this potentially life-saving equipment purchase. In recent years, automated external defibrillators have become a familiar sight in many workplaces and community buildings across America because of their ability to save the life of someone stricken by a sudden cardiac arrest. Nearly every day, an organization with an AED program saves the life of a team member, customer or community member. Those persons on the scene with an AED were able to treat the victim before EMS responders arrive, so it is important for workplaces to have an “AED program” that includes employees trained in CPR and AED use. It was the goal of the Good Neighbor Society to have the potential of saving the life of a tenant, team member or visitor at The Meadows if the need arises. GNS also have 3 AEDs in the Good Neighbor Home, their long term care facility. The Meadows is located on the Good Neighbor Society’s CCRC Campus in Manchester. The Good Neighbor Society has been serving the Manchester/Delaware County area for over 50 years, with The Meadows opening its doors in March 2000. The Good Neighbor Society has recently completed the necessary application with the State of Iowa to secure the designation of CCRC – Continuous Care Retirement Community. This new status will allow for Independent Living services to be added to GNS’s 33-acre campus as well as making the GNS eligible for some significant tax credits. Recently David Snyder, CEO of the Good Neighbor Society accepts a check from Rachel York, representing RMC’s Fund and Resource Development Advisory Committee. Also present for the presentation were Marcia Burkle, RMC Auxiliary Coordinator and FRDAC member (right) and Cathy Werner Good Neighbor Society CFO (left).
