GRAPHENE WEEK 2015 PRACTICAL INFORMATION Graphene Week 2015 is the tenth edition of the international Graphene Week conference, organised by the Graphene Flagship since 2014, creating Europe’s most influential conference on graphene and related two-dimensional materials. The programme combines fundamental science with a strong focus on industrial applications, protection techniques and new two-dimensional materials. Share your VENUE Manchester is well connected by all modes of transport, so whether you are travelling by road, rail or air, it is easy to reach. Once in the city, you can easily get around by foot. The University of Manchester is located on the south side of the city centre close to shops and restaurants. The conference venue is ‘the University Place’, located on Oxford Road (no. 37 on the campus map), and it is the central point for all visitors to the university. #GrapheneWeek experience GET ONLINE Should you not have access to ‘Eduroam’ (used by most universities in Europe), we will provide a personal Wi-Fi account, which you find printed on the backside of your name badge. The Oxford Road campus is just a 15 minutes walk from Piccadilly station. To plan your walking route, please go to walkit.com Rail Air Car Travelling by train could not be easier, with most major cities across the UK offering direct train services into Manchester Piccadilly station, which is just 15 minutes walk from the Oxford Road campus or a short taxi ride. The journey time from London to Manchester now takes just over two hours. For details of prices and timetables of all national train connections into Manchester, visit Network Rail’s website. Manchester International Airport has flights from over 200 destinations worldwide and the airport is located just 10 miles from the city centre with a direct train service into Piccadilly station every 20 minutes throughout the week. The approximate cost is £5 for a single journey and the journey time is just 15 minutes. Alternatively you can get a taxi to the city centre which costs around £20. The University’s campuses are located from just 1 mile to the nearest motorway junction and there are University signposts directing you to the campuses. The M60 outer ring road connects to all the motorways running into Manchester from north, south, east and west. First TransPennine Express operates direct train services into Manchester from across the north of England, Edinburgh and Glasgow and direct services into the city centre from Manchester Airport. The car parks on the Oxford Road campus is chargeable. Chancellors Hotel offers complimentary parking and there is limited free parking within the student halls of residence, subject to availability. Your poster shall be in place during the coffee break in the afternoon of the day of your poster session, and removed during the lunchtime of the next day. Poster boards will be at your disposal and numbered accordingly. Pushpins will be available for your use. WELCOME RECEPTION Participants are warmly invited to the welcome reception, from 20:00 to 21:30 on 22 June, provided by the City of Manchester. This get-together will be held at Manchester Town Hall, less than 10 min walk from the University Place. The evening programme includes a welcome drink at the museum, visit to the stadium and a quiz competition. All participants are invited to join at 20:00 on 25 June. The venue is situated at a 5 minutes walk from Old Trafford station (metrolink) but you may also take a taxi from the University Place. Please check with the driver before travelling. EXHIBITION Attendees are encouraged to visit the exhibit hall located in the Drum (main lobby). The exhibit hall hours are: Session One, 22 - 23 June Monday and Tuesday 08:00 - 18:30 Session Two, 24 - 25 June Wednesday and Thursday 08:00 - 18:30 ACCOMMODATION There are a number of specially negotiated accommodation rates for delegates at Graphene Week 2015. The accommodation website will be open until 25 May, 2015. However, early booking is recommended to ensure you are able to book your preferred hotel. Accommodation website GENERAL INFORMATION Insurance, Safety and Health All delegates are urged to take personal travel insurance. Intellectual Property Any event content, including but not limited to photos, videos, slides, or papers, are considered property of the organiser and shall not be posted or disseminated by delegates without expressed written approval of the organiser. During Graphene Week, attendees, exhibitors, guests and others may be photographed and filmed by the Graphene Flagship or its partners in capturing the event. Some of these photographs or videos may be displayed by the Graphene Flagship in future publications or materials connected with the event. If you do not wish for your image to be displayed by the Graphene Flagship, please contact the organisers by email to info@ graphene-flagship.eu no later than two weeks after the event. No Smoking Policy All premises occupied and used by delegates at the Graphene Week must be smoke-free. Smoking is prohibited in the congress venue and its immediate surroundings at all times.
