Parking Letter 05.05.2015 - Grazebrook Primary School
Grazebrook Primary School Lordship Road, London N16 0QP Telephone: 0208 802 4051 Fax: 0208 442 5202 contacts@grazebrook.hackney.sch.uk Executive Headteacher: Mrs Michelle Thomas Head of School: Mr Derek Hewie Tuesday 5th May 2015 Dear Parents and Carers, Re: Road Safety I would like to take this opportunity to remind all parents and carers of the huge importance of road safety outside the school, both at the beginning and end of the school day. I am aware that parking is limited outside the school, however, not only is it illegal to double park whilst dropping off or picking up children at the school gate, but it is highly dangerous. As you are aware, the school gate is a very busy place during these times and there are children and adults crossing the road. The school would encourage as many people as possible to walk from home at the beginning and end of the school day. The fewer cars there are outside the school gates at these times, the safer it is for everyone. Local residents have also made complaints to the school about those who park in resident bays without parking permits. There are a number of disabled parking bays close to the school which are also being used illegally During these busy times, school staff are at the main gates and they will be reminding those who park illegally to move on. The ‘school markings’ which were painted on the road outside the Grayling Road entrance mean that no cars can stop outside the school gates at all. It is illegal to park on these marks. I have contacted Hackney Council and they will also be sending parking patrol officers and vehicles to the area at these times. They have asked me to remind drivers that CCTV cameras operate in this area and these capture footage of activity outside the school gate at these times. We would like to thank you in advance for supporting us in making Grazebrook and the local area a safe place to be. Yours sincerely Derek Hewie Head of School
