2nd Collection Next Weekend for
Catholic Home Missions
Knights of Columbus Scholarship
Because of the shortage of priests, sisters and brothers, there are
many places in the United States, especially in rural and mountainous locations, where the Catholic Church struggles to keep parishes
open and to educate children in the faith. This appeal helps build
community within the Church and works for the common good
of Catholics in the United States. A portion of the collection also
supports the effort by the Church for Black and Native American
Indians. Please visitwww.usccb.org/hm for more information.
Music Ministry Notes
Thank you for your continued musical participation! All are invited
to join in the musical preparations for the Friday May 1st Confirmation Mass. Rehearsals will be Tuesdays April 21 and April 28 at
7:45pm in the church.
Please respect the space of the musical ministers at Mass. The area
of seats sectioned off by the white iron rails near the piano is for
choir members and musicians that participate in weekly rehearsals
ONLY. If you wish to simply show up at Mass and sing any seat
in the assembly is the perfect spot for that! If you would like to
become a member of the choir simply see the music leader of your
Mass time of choice for a rehearsal schedule.

kinderchurch
The Kinderchurch Ministry is a parent participation ministry open to Good
Shepherd’s youngest parishioners – ages 18 months (by the first day of
Kinderchurch) through their Kindergarten year. * The Kinderchurch program seeks to build an enriching faith community for
the youngest members of our church. We supplement their Catholic foundation
with a meaningful religious education program through the use of age-appropriate lessons, stories, songs, and crafts while their parents attend Mass. * Kinderchurch is offered during the 9 am Mass from September through May.
* We are looking for more adult catechists to help provide this wonderful
religious experience for the children of our parish - NO teaching experience
is needed! Family Camp at Camp Pendola, a great family get-away to end
the summer. Labor Day Weekend celebrates the family by offering
a summer camp experience for all ages. Register by August 1. For
more information check out our web site www.pendola.org or call
916-733-0123.
Easter blessings! Please help us share in the joy of 2 babies being
born during Holy Week! Blair and Nikki welcomed their third
child, Wyatt Christian, on March 27. Alex and Jenna welcomed
their first child, Augustin Ian, on April 5.
Painting Party Fundraiser! An adult evening out of fun and fellowship to benefit Elizabeth Ministry! Liz Harrington, founder of

Healing After Abortion Retreat
Rachel’s Vineyard Is someone you know suffering after an abortion, perhaps years after the choice? Please consider the Rachel’s
Vineyard Retreat weekend, May 1-3, 2015, in Auburn, sponsored
by the Diocese of Sacramento. This unique and effective experience
presents the mercy and compassion of God. The retreat is extremely helpful for those who struggle with feelings of: shame, anger,
grief, or for those who have not forgiven themselves or others.
Open to women, men, couples, and family members touched by
abortion. The cost is $175 per person. Financial assistance is available. For a registration packet or more information, contact Paula
Segno at (916) 733-0161 or write projectrachel@scd.org. Inquiries
and participation are strictly confidential.
St. Vincent de Paul News
HOORAY! Father Leon came and blessed our
new addition and gave us a beautiful Crucifix to
put up and a picture of the Divine Mercy to help
us to continue to serve our clients with compassion and kindness. We are thrilled with the new
addition! This week we were able to serve 60
families consisting of 182 people with 260 boxes
of food. We still have to purchase meat as the
Food Banks we purchase from are not able to distribute much meat
these days as there as so many people in Sacramento County who
are food insecure.
Within 2 weeks we will have a shed, located near SVDP closet
where you will be able to drive up and drop off donations OTHER
THAN FOOD into the shed. Again, we ask that once the shed
is up, NOTHING BUT FOOD be left in the Narthex wagon for
SVDP. We have a client who needs a microwave if someone has
one to donate. Thank you again to Fr. Leon for his generosity
toward SVDP and the food and clothing insecure population of Elk
Grove. We are always in need of volunteers on Monday mornings.
Please contact Laura Wade and Angela Banbury at kinderchurch@gscceg.org
with any questions. CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
CLOW is a parent participation ministry staffed solely by volunteers for 1st4th graders which takes place during Sunday 9am, 11am, and 5pm Masses.
Father calls up the children AFTER the Opening Prayer and we process the
children to the Parish Center for our class. The children return at the end of
the Homily so they can participate in Holy Communion. Please email clow@
gscceg.org for more information if you would like to volunteer as a Catechist
or assistant .
Stewardship at Good Shepherd
