Methodology
1- First stage: Aggregating verified information from CRS-SY, SNHR, ST, SS, VDC
associated with of barrel bombs
2- Second stage: Crowdsourcing information to obtain a full picture of the supply chain
from production, transportation, and deployment of both barrel bombs and the capabilities
utilized in support of barrel bombing operations.
3-Third stage: Retrieving information from the crowd and verification from multiple
witnesses
4- Fourth stage: Producing a narrative of the supply chain produced from the verified
information gathered in the previous stages
5 – Fifth stage: “accountability” – make the narrative available to global activist that wil
employ it to hold accountable key actors behind the supply chain
Evidence base on Previous
Cases
Name and shame of companies:
•
Free2Protect: Evaluates electronic brands’ supply chain to
create a grade for those companies involvement in child and
forced labor and posts the information online.
•  Shamed on Twitter: General Mills, Sallie Mae, Macy’s –
changed policies based on twitter attacks
Successfully keeping companies accountable for their
supply chain
•  Gap held accountable for Rana Plaza building in
Bangladesh that killed more than 1,100 garment workers.
Resulted in an alliance among 70 companies
Evidence base on Previous
Cases
Successful crowdsourced information sites
•  Brown Moses, Bellingcat.com
•  Reddit
•  Governments: now using Facebook, Twitter and
overseas regional networks to find key intelligence
data
Example:
•  Malaysia Airlines Flight killed 298 people. Within
minutes who shot it, what shot it, and when and where
it was shot was on social media.
