Happy May everyone,
The April games was amazing. There were trailers everywhere. We sold a lot of hamburgers in the
cook shack and it ended up being a nice day. Everyone seemed to be having fun.
Thanks to everyone who came to the work parties. They were a huge success. it was nice to see
some new faces there and we got a lot done in those two days. we're still working on the trail course
but it looks much better. It is a work in progress. Thanks to Tom's hard work most of the new posts
are in up there. We are all excited about how things are looking.
The English/Western show had a huge turnout for our first show of the year. It was great seeing so
many people having fun.
May is a busy month for the saddle club with a 4-H club coming in and a Dressage show too.
If you have any time to help with any of the other shows during the year I know it would be greatly
appreciated. All the people in charge of them work very hard to make every show the best possible.
They can always use a few extra hands on the day of to make it happen.
Please think about helping out at one you wouldn't normally attend even if it's only for a few hours.
Thanks for everything you all do.
Happy Trails to you!

Hunter/Jumper Update
redmiata_fun@yahoo.com
The entry period for the July 19th Show to Benefit Little Bit doesn’t start until June 10. But, we hope the hunters
and jumpers out there are engaged and looking forward to some good competition in front of judge WadeEasley. I am looking forward to seeing the course designs that one of her associates is preparing for both the
hunters and jumpers. They should be appropriately challenging and fun.
Last week we became indebted to Olson’s Tack Shop for supporting the non-profit Little Bit such that we can
award $15 gift cards to the winners of all of our classes, plus declare Hunter and Jumper Champions and
Reserve Champions that will receive $50 and $25 gift cards each. We will also be able to auction some Olson
Gift cards in the Silent Auction. All profits from the show will be donated to Little Bit, so the more riders, the
more Little Bit benefits. Please see LittleBit.org if you have any questions about their therapeutic horse therapy
work with disabled clients.
That is not to say they Olson’s is the only sponsor. I am also proud of the many other companies and
individuals who have stepped up, and continue to do so, to make the silent auction (all proceeds go to Little Bit)
a broad assortment of items at a range of prices. We hope one or two will tempt you. If not the stabling at the
beach for your horses (Nansea’s Stables, Ocean Shores), what about photography (photos and photo shoots
(Julie Austin)), equine care, like massage (Barbara Breckenfeld), saddle fitting (Anderson Equine Saddle
Fitting), a horse first aid kit (Dr. Steven Latimeer) or acupuncture (Dr. Taryn Rathbone)), cooking (World Spice
Market cook book and fresh spices, and Sasquatch cookbooks), rider fitness (Tammy Prevo of Equi-fit) and of
course, toys (Top ten Toys and White Horse Toys) and a pony party (Dreamland Ponies) for the young at heart?
Maybe you need to Ride the Ducks, or a more stayed Argosy Cruise? We have over 24 sponsors (some private)
and almost 50 items. Check them out as I get the specifics at: https://www.biddingforgood.com/HHSCLittleBit, which has pictures (if I do), and a search feature, as well as a way for you to ask me if something
would be an appropriate donation. Of course, Jenny will be using some of this in the advertising to get your
attention as well, so I don’t want to spoil it all.
You may also want to check on whether an item you are interested in will be offered during the hunter
(morning) or jumper (afternoon) part of the show. The Web site helps you figure that out. You do not need to be
present to win. At this point though, we are still operating on cash and checks – we are working on credit cards
That is the fun part. We also need volunteers. I am thankful to Kimberly Lance of Kimberly Lance
Horsemanship Training and her students who are riding in the show, and have volunteered to help set downed
rails and help raise the course. Jenny Davidson and her husband will be there too. Even a barely gone Amy
Mckenna is flying in from Michigan to man the in-gate. The person in charge of Fund Raising at Little Bit has
volunteered to “do whatever” (manage the auction – what else?). So if you think you can help – set jumps the
day before, help with jumps the day of, or be the out gate person who keeps track of the ribbons and scoring
position for high point (probably on a new table), please let me know: redmiata_fun@yahoo.com or 206-7835620. We can arrange work in shifts, and I can arrange to sign community service forms for those who need
them and contact other division managers to report your hours to them if you are a member.
Riders, if you have questions not answered on our web site (HollywoodHillSaddleClub.com) or Facebook page
(www.facebook.com/HollywoodHillSaddleClub), please do the same. Please do check out the Open Card
System Explanation that we will be using at the show to make it run faster so you will be familiar with it.
Hollywood Hill Saddle Club is thrilled to throw a show benefitting the Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center and
raise some money for their necessary programs. Let’s make it a good one and bring in some money for the great
work they do. In support of our efforts, our cook shack will be open for our famous burgers and other treats.
Parking, as always, is free (although please park carefully to allow for as many trailers as possible, and if you
are only coming to the auction try not to take a trailer spot).
Thank you to those without whom the show would not be possible (mentioned above) plus the entire
Hollywood Hill Saddle Club Board of Directors, the Amazing Kitchen staff, unmentioned volunteers and
donors whose items are still getting to me.

*Yes, this show is in place of the originally advertised one for the Seattle Mounted Patrol. The
show manager broke her leg and will not be walking on May, 17. We apologize for the
inconvenience of a new date, and hope you can still come and enjoy some good jumping rounds
with us.
English/Western Show Update
english&western@hollywoodhillsaddleclub.com
May has already been a busy month for our Division. The Western Equitation and Trail Clinic
was a wonderful success. Everyone really appreciated the information that Amanda brought to the clinic.
Thank you so much Amanda. The Trail course is really taking shape. The extra room makes the course much
easier to design and use. Thank you Tom and all the volunteers that made this happen.
The May Warm Up Show had fantastic weather for a May Show. No mud or rain. Somehow doesn’t seem like
a May Show, but we loved it. Jill Hallin was a great Ring Judge and Kimberly Lance was our inaugural Trail
Judge. We also want to say welcome to all of the new members that joined the HHSC at the show and a glad to
see you again to those that renewed their membership.
We also want to thank R.A. Mazzola and the Tashaunka Farm members that have volunteered to man the out
gate at all the shows. You did a fantastic job this month and look forward to the remaining 3 shows running just
as smooth.
Janice and Marilyn want to thank all the volunteers that helped at this show. Cindy was home with the “stuff”
that is going around and we were concerned about how we could get the show off and running. We had
volunteers step up and help cover spots so that we could put on the show. Thank you all so much for your help
and support. Ken Sinfield’s parking lot help was invaluable. With our shows being larger, we can’t have any
cars parked where the trailers go. We can park in the lot out close to the street and also in the lot down at the
Elementary School. His work made it so that there were places for the Western People to park their trailers
when they came. Let’s all help out and remember to move all cars after you have delivered tack, etc. to the
trailer area. Thank you.

Games Show Update
tanisfarm@msn.com
What a great first game show of the season we had in April. We had a greater turn out than I hoped
for. We had perfect weather and 106 plus riders. We had lots of help raking and with all of the jobs.
This helped the show run smoothly.
Thank you to all of the members and nonmembers that helped the show run so well. At the last
minute we decided to run the last event in reverse order. Sorry for any inconvenience this caused, but
running the last event in reverse order makes it easier to get all of the points tabulated. We will be
running the last event in reverse order at all of the shows.
I do want people to check the results often and not wait until the end of the day. We are not perfect
and errors do occur. If caught soon they are easier to fix. So please don’t wait until you have finished
riding for the day to check your points. I want to thank Roger and Ruth for getting things set up and
having a computer ready for us. As soon as I get the results from Roger we will have them posted to
the website. Also thank you to Amy and Melissa for getting donations for the raffle. Don’t forget to
buy raffle tickets at the next game. This helps towards are yearend awards.
I want to welcome all of the returning members and all of the new members that singed up at the
show. I believe there were at least 90 of the 106 riders who are members. That is great. Thank you
all. Just a reminder, that if you attend 4 of the 6 shows and get your worker points at each show, you
will be eligible for a year end award.
Last year there were a few awards that were not picked up. If you did not pick up your award please
make arrangements to pick them up. If they are not picked up by the next show we will be using them
as raffle prizes. I still have prizes for Shannen Price, Kasaundra McNeilly, Robin Packard, Olympia
Grainger and Cassy Mead. If you know any of these people please let them know they have awards
to pick up for Hollywood Hills.
The next game show is May 24th. The events are poles, stilly, polo, ½ 8, and bi-wrangle. I hope to
see all of you there. Hopefully we will have a great turn out like we did in April. And thank you again
to all of you that help. It looks like we are going to have a great season.
