Assessment Tasks
Part I – Portfolio
Students are required to complete a portfolio for this unit of work. The portfolio
is a written document which uses research, sketching, management and
evaluation techniques to support the designer in the construction of a project.
The portfolio is to contain the following:
1. Title Page
2. Describe each of the tool used in the construction of the toolbox including an image of
each
3. Include images of the timber used in the construction of the project and identify the
properties and characteristics of each.
4. Materials Cutting List
Assessment Descriptors
Marks
Completes and applies an extensive range of skills used to produce a quality portfolio.
Sketch is clear with detailed annotations outlining how the utensil tray will be constructed
with cutting list completed accurately. Construction steps are ordered correctly in detail and
outline the tools and materials used. Evaluation is detailed and demonstrates an
understanding of problem solving skills.
21 - 25
Completes and applies a thorough range of skills used to produce a portfolio. Sketch is clear
with annotations outlining how the utensil tray will be constructed with cutting list completed
in detail. Construction steps are organised and identify the tools and materials used.
Evaluation demonstrates problem solving skills.
16 - 20
Completes and applies a sound range of skills used the production of a portfolio. Sketch is
completed with basic annotations and cutting list. Construction steps are complete and
identify the tools and materials used. Evaluation demonstrates limited problem solving
skills.
11 - 15
Completes a satisfactory portfolio. Sketch is incomplete with limited annotations and cutting
list incorrect. Construction steps are unorganised and evaluation is basic demonstrating little
problem solving skills.
6 - 10
Completes an elementary level of portfolio. Sketch is incomplete with no annotations and
cutting list not attempted. Construction steps are incomplete and evaluation is not attempted.

materials. Works independently and demonstrates exemplary behaviour in the workshop and
always wears appropriate personal protective equipment. All Onguard safety training tests
compeleted.
9 - 10
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge in the safe use of tools, machinery and materials.
Demonstrates very good behaviour in the workshop and always wears appropriate personal
protective equipment. Majority of Onguard safety training tests completed.
