Street WELCOME This letter confirms your registration for the Hubbard Summer Rec Team. We are looking forward to a successful season filled with fun and tons of swimming. Enthusiasm, encouragement, and great attitudes are mandatory. Our coaching goal for the season is to make this a 8­week program of positive experiences. Hard work, good attitudes and lots of stroke drills will pay off. If we are better athletes and faster swimmers than we were on the first day of practice we will have had a great summer! PRE­SEASON UPDATE LOCATION: We are excited to announce that our Pre­season Saturday practices will be at Melrose Paradise Recreation Club. The Melrose pool is an outdoor pool located just 5 minutes south of HFSS at 11424 N. 30th St. and is the same place we have a couple meets. It is a 25 meter pool with starting blocks and proper depth which allow us to better prepare the kids for the season. Pre­season practices will be led by Coach Vanessa with help from Coach Ed and a few other wonderful coaches. Pre­season practices will begin Saturday, May 2nd and will continue on May 9th, 16th and 23rd. Weekday practices will begin Tuesday, May 26th. LEAGUE INFO Your swimmer will be a member of Hubbard Family Swim School East (“HFSS East”) that competes in the Desert Swim League (“DSL”). While the DSL remains a recreational league, they continue to stress correct swim techniques and disqualify swimmers as violations occur. Swimmers of all ages (even six and under) may be disqualified. The DSL follows the National High School Rule Book. PARENT MEETING & INTERSQUAD MEET Our parent meeting will be a part of our intersquad meet on Tuesday June 2nd​

at 5:30pm at Thunderbird Adventist Academy. Warm­up will start 5:30pm and the parent meeting will start once we get kids swimming. In the meeting, we will discuss​

stroke rules, meet information, tips for the season and​
​
answer questions. This intersquad meet will give our swimmers a chance to meet each other and swim in a meet setting. Parents get a glimpse at how the meets run and an opportunity to meet other parents. All HFSS East and HFSS West swimmers and parents are encourage to attend. MEET SCHEDULE The league is still finalizing the meet schedule. It will be emailed to you and posted on our website once completed. All meet locations, times, and strokes may be subject to change. All team members will receive an awesome 2015 Hubbard Summer Rec Team t­shirt. We use fins and kickboards in practices. We recommend that each swimmer has their own swim gear. Team swim caps, kickboards, goggles and fins can be purchased at the snack bar at any indoor HFSS location. New “Mighty Turtle” Team suits for 2015 will be in the end of May and will be available at the snack bar at 32nd St. and Peoria. They are 100% polyester and hold up well. There is a limited number of suits. We will send an email when the suits become available. Team suits and gear are NOT mandatory. Team members can wear any racing/workout type suit they already have. Please ­ no big baggy suits on the boys ­ they fall off when they dive off the racing blocks! ​
Male suits are $29.00 Female suits are $39.00 PARENT VOLUNTEERS Volunteers will be needed throughout the season at all swim meets. We need parents to hand out ribbons, write down times, be official timers, place judges, etc. We would love it if everyone helped at least once, who knows, you might want to do it again and again. ​
