HUNTSMAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS | UtahStateUniversity SPECIALIZATION: SHINGO LEADERSHIP AND ENTERPRISE EXCELLENCE MBA SPECIALIZATION: SHINGO LEADERSHIP AND ENTERPRISE EXCELLENCE The Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Shingo Leadership and Enterprise Excellence creates value for business professionals by giving them the knowledge and skills to leverage the principles and behaviors of enterprise excellence as part of a strategic, focused approach for achieving sustained business results. The Shingo Model™ has been developed and refined at Utah State University over the past 27 years and is an internationally recognized standard for enterprise excellence. The Shingo Model™ Our MBA program utilizes the Shingo Model™ to help students learn a new way of thinking about value creation and what differentiates organizations that have experienced sustained improvement and consistent delivery of success to their stakeholders. The competencies learned in the Shingo Leadership and Enterprise Excellence specialization courses represent a highly desired set of skills. MBA students who develop proficiency in the principles of enterprise excellence and the Shingo ModelTM will be well positioned to lead organizations committed to continuous improvement and sustainable value creation, and to advance rapidly in their careers. Students completing this specialization will also be awarded a Shingo certificate of completion. Innovative, Value-Added Program The framework for the MBA with the Shingo Leadership and Enterprise Excellence specialization consists of: • 18 credits of a foundational curriculum, designed to give students a grounding in business fundamentals, and • 17 credits of specialization courses that examine the application of enterprise excellence in all aspects of the enterprise and the Shingo Model™. All Huntsman MBA programs are fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB International), which “fosters the attainment and maintenance of excellence in undergraduate and graduate business education.” Admission Requirements In order to apply for the MBA program, you must have the following: • An undergraduate degree • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on your last 60 semester or 90 quarter credits • 6 years of managerial leadership experience preferred All applicants who have a minimum of 6 years of managerial leadership experience are automatically granted a waiver of the entrance exam. An applicant who is deficient in the preferred work experience may take the GMAT, GRE, or MAT as an appropriate substitute. A score at or above the 40th percentile in the quantitative and verbal portions and overall are required for admittance. Admissions Checklist You will need to submit the following items online to the School of Graduate Studies. The application and fee are needed to begin the application process. All items must be submitted before the application is considered complete. Prospective students who have been out of school for more than two years may submit three professional letters of recommendation. (The names and emails of the individuals are entered directly into the application. The recommenders are then emailed a link to a web interface form where the letter of recommendation is submitted.) Offered in downtown Salt Lake City, courses are taught face-to-face by engaging, highly qualified professors.
