INDONESIA AUSTRALIA BUSINESS CONFERENCE
BUSINESS AS USUAL?
a look at business in a new political environment
YOGYAKARTA, 15 – 17 NOVEMBER 2015

Every two years the IABC hosts a Business Conference in Indonesia in which its counterpart
the AIBC in Australia is invited to participate to the fullest possible extent. However
conference participation is certainly not limited to IABC/AIBC members but it is intended to
hold wider appeal to the business community. You are invited.
Also invited are business persons from around Asia who may belong to one of the
AustChams or Councils operating in Asia.
This year’s Conference is the 33rd in the series of business conferences (held over one or
more days) in either Indonesia or Australia. It will be held on 15-17 November in the historic
and academic city of Yogyakarta.
At this year’s conference we ask what if anything has changed for business, given recent
significant political and social developments in Indonesia, or whether it is business as usual.
We are looking at these developments in general, how they are impacting on the critical
infrastructure sector, and will hear how some particular businesses are faring.
We work within the regional beehive framework of trade and investment agreements –
actual or planned - and we examine where these are heading, and what they are delivering
besides controversy and confusion.
The objectives of the Conference are:
 To provide an up-to-date analysis of the political and economic landscape;
 To reinforce the bilateral ties between Indonesia and Australia;
 To assist all delegates to network within business and government circles and to develop
strategic links;
 To enhance awareness of the benefits of connectivity throughout Asia and the Pacific;
 To provide practical and relevant information and contacts for organizations with existing
business as well as those who are seeking to establish new business;
 To provide an informal environment with sufficient social interaction to enable
participants to benefit from each other’s experience.
The business programme is spread over two full days (Monday and Tuesday). Formalities
will be kept to a minimum and the focus will be on networking to encourage stronger links.
The format will be plenary sessions with keynote and panels of speakers. Specific areas
of activity and development on which we will concentrate are:
o
o
o
o

political and social developments

specific experiences

conference.
