The Board of Directors, the Board of Commissioners, and the staff of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) welcome you to the ‘Charm City’ of Baltimore and the Assembly’s 2015 Annual Conference and Assembly Meeting. We believe that we have an outstanding lineup of concurrent sessions and other activities and events planned for you this year. On Tuesday, Peregrine Academic Services will conduct a group meeting and host a luncheon for users of its assessment products and services. The conference then officially kicks off with a welcome reception on Tuesday evening. Don’t miss this opportunity to reconnect and visit with friends and colleagues! The first day ends with a networking social. Over the next three days, we hope that you will take advantage of the 52 breakout sessions, 6 special roundtable sessions, and a variety of other events, activities, and sessions on offer this year. Deserving of special note are a plenary session on Wednesday morning dealing with the IACBE’s new expectations and requirements for assessment and reporting; the recognition luncheon on Wednesday where we will recognize those individuals who have served the IACBE in various capacities and those schools that have recently achieved candidacy status; the awards luncheon on Thursday where we will present the IACBE’s annual awards of excellence; and an optional Baltimore Orioles baseball game on Wednesday evening. On Thursday evening, all conference participants are invited to our accreditation banquet – the wonderful highlight of each annual conference. This year’s conference also features our fourth annual Student Case-Study Competition focusing on business ethics. The competition will take place on both Wednesday and Thursday, and will provide students with an opportunity to showcase their ability to analyze a case and to identify and discuss recommendations for ethical action. The conference concludes on Friday morning with two special roundtable sessions. Friday’s activities also include a series of all-day workshops dealing with various aspects of the IACBE’s accreditation process. Once again, welcome to Baltimore and our 2015 Annual Conference and Assembly Meeting. We hope that you find the various conference events both productive and enjoyable, and that you will have many ‘take-aways’ as you return to your respective institutions. If we can assist in any way during the conference, please feel free to ask. As always, we stand ready to partner with you in a shared journey toward excellence in business education. (Frederick) 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm Workshops Conclude STUDENT CASE-STUDY COMPETITION Wednesday-Thursday | April 15-16 The IACBE is committed to “partnering with colleges and universities in preparing today’s business students for tomorrow’s workplace.” In this spirit, the case-study competition focuses on business ethics and is intended to provide students with an opportunity to showcase their abilities to analyze a case, to identify and discuss recommendations for ethical action, and to ‘think on their feet.’ The case-study competition requires their ability to (1) work as members of a team, (2) collect and analyze data, and (3) effectively present case information and answer questions in a clear, concise, and professional manner. A first-, second-, and third-place team will be selected based on the combined scores from four rounds of presentations over two days of competition. The winning team will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship generously sponsored by Bloomberg Businessweek. For the second year in a row, the final-round case is graciously provided to the IACBE by the Eller Center for Leadership Ethics at the University of Arizona.
