IMACC FTIR Extractive Monitoring System Spec Sheet
S PEC SHEET IMACC Extractive Monitoring System The IMACC Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Extractive Monitoring System is an industrial monitor for stacks, and process applications utilizing infrared technology, giving real-time measurements of up to 200 different gases including organics, inorganics, acids, and volatile organic compounds. DESCRIPTION AND PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION: THE MOST CUSTOMIZABLE AND HIGHLY VALUED EQUIPMENT IN THE BUSINESS: The IMACC FTIR Extractive Monitoring System uses an extraction line and pump that pulls the air sample through an internal cell in the accessory. The system collects continuous spectra of the sample, analyzes it, and provides a continuous readout of concentrations. IMACC FTIR Monitoring Systems employ a unique design, incorporating a standard base unit with additional monitoring accessories that allow multi-functionality to suit both monitoring and financial needs. Notable Features: Stable, rugged, industrialized system for CEM or process monitoring Simple, fully automatic operations for months at a time Accessories are snap on with “pin in place” alignment Monitors up to 50 compounds in real time Full alarming capability by compound Preprogrammed software with graphical interface and display systems Portable system for mobile use The IMACC FTIR Extractive Monitoring System comes with a standard base unit of operation, with different accessories that allow multiple monitoring configurations. The standard base unit consists of: Michelson interferometer with 0.125/cm resolution “dash-pot” movement Fully dynamic alignment system Spectral range from 400/cm to 8000/cm, with typical operation from 400 to 4000/cm depending on compounds desired ZnSe or KBr beamsplitter depending on applications AND THE MOST RUGGED: IMACC’s FTIR Monitoring Systems maintain optimum alignment in the harshest environments with ease, standing up against rapid temperature changes or the vibrations produced from near-by equipment. USED WITH TRUST: DETECTION LIMITS: IMACC technology is found at major industrial, petrochemical, and chemical facilities world-wide and is used by the U.S. EPA and other research institutions for emissions and air quality monitoring. Detection limits are influenced by the sample and its contents. The detection limits can change slightly with time as the sample stream changes composition. For every system, IMACC provides detection limits for all the compounds of concern to the particular facility. IMACC cell-based systems can achieve detection limits close to noise limited values, particularly if some sample preparation is used. FOR A VARIETY OF APPLICATIONS : The extractive accessories can be used to monitor multiple points of air quality concerns. REPRESENTATIVE FTIR DETECTION LIMITS* Stack gas monitoring: continuous emission monitoring in stacks, vents, or abatement systems. SPECIES POINT SAMPLING (ppmv*m) 32 m cell** (ppbv) Ammonia .3 9 1, 3 Butadiene .3 9 Carbon Tetrachloride .2 6 Chloroform .2 6 1, 4 Dioxane .3 9 The system monitors “hot/wet.” As a result, all cell accessories have an option for temperaturecontrolled heating of the cell and the extraction line(s) so they can be operated at temperature up to 200C; this is necessary in saturate streams or for high temperature streams. The accessory comes in several different configuration 5cm, 10cm, or 15cm fixed path length cell 1m to 10m adjustable path length cell 4m to 32m adjustable path length cell Custom 25m to 150m adjustable path length cell Fromaldehyde .8 25 Hydrogen Chloride .5 13 Hydrogen Cyanide .4 13 Isobutylene .4 13 Isopropanol 1.0 31 Methylene Chloride .8 25 Nitric Acid .2 6.4 Ozone .5 16 Phosgene .2 6 Silane .1 3 Styrene .2 6 The cell and its feed lines are heated so all measurements are made on a hot/wet basis. Trichloroethylene .3 9 1, 1, 1 Trichlorethelyne 1.0 31 Vinyl Chloride .5 16 Process control: real-time monitoring of industrial processes or gas streams with continuous feedback and alarm systems. FTIR EXTRACTION SYSTEM OFFERINGS: *Requires the Mark V cooled detector ** Detection limit may involve water drying of the sample 32m adjustable path length with base cell. SOFTWARE PACKAGE: A complete, user-friendly Windows®-based control and display software package is provided with every instrument. The graphical display packages produce a variety of plots/displays in real-time including gas concentrations as a function of time, bar charts of concentrations versus alarm levels, and correlation plots showing the relationship between various detected compounds. The reporting software allows for generation of custom tabular reports by the user. Inside 32m accessory cell. FTIR SPECIFICATIONS: The appropriate attachment is dictated by the sampling to be done. The shorter fixed path length cells are used for percent-level sampling with a detection limit in the 0.05% range, the 1-10m cell is used for ppm–level monitoring with a detection limit in the 0.1 ppm range, the 4-32m cell provides for monitoring the high ppm to mid ppb range with a detection limit in the 30 to 50 ppb range, and the large 25-150m cell is used for very low ppb level detection having a detection limit in the 1-2 ppb range. All accessories are interchangeable to a single FTIR base unit. Detection limits - low ppbv levels depending on target species, path length used, and response time required Dynamic range - ppb-levels to high percent Response time - Typically 10 sec. to 1 min.
