Club M
Again this year, our “Club M” Youth will be participating in the “Walk For The Animals” on Sunday, April 26th, from 9:00
AM-Noon, at Druid Hill Park. This event is the major fund raiser of The Maryland SPCA, a no-kill shelter on Falls Road
which helps thousands of homeless animals find new and loving homes. Thank you to all those that supported Club M,
they will be donating $1,035 to the SPCA this year.
SUNDAY FORUMS: SUNDAY AT 9:15 AM
April 19-Poetry and Hymnody
Enjoy an old fashioned hymn sing with the Rev. Ben Smith accompanied by the Rev. Stuart Wright in the Peabody
Room.
April 26- Diocesan Convention/General Convention the way of the Church presented by Alma Bell
Have you ever wondered what happens during our conventions and how those actions impact our lives as Episcopalians?
Come and hear from the Cathedral’s diocesan delegates and a seasoned General Convention deputy as they share their
thought and review upcoming resolutions.
Sunday Morning Bible Study
The Sunday Morning Bible Study meets Sunday at 9 AM and for the next few weeks we will be using the N. T. Wright
Study, “The Letters of John” (Bible Study for Everyone). The book costs $8.00 and will be available at St. Bede’s Bookstore
at the Cathedral. Everyone is welcome to join us. Copies of the book as well as Bibles and Bulletins with the Epistle
reading will be available for discussion on Sunday mornings. If you have a question please contact Jon Shematek
at jonshematek@comcast.net or Anne Bruder at anne_bruder@hotmail.com. N.T. WRIGHT is the former Bishop of
Durham in the Church of England and one of the world’s leading Bible scholars. He is now serving as the Chair of New
Testament and Early Christianity at the School of Divinity at the University of St. Andrews.
Data-thon!!
If you are or have been a member of the Cathedral, you should be receiving a phone call from a fellow member on
Monday, April 20 or Wednesday, April 22 in the early evening. We want to clean our database and provide the most
up-to-date information about members. The purpose of the phone call is to review and add to the information we
now have – names of all in the household with proper spellings, good email addresses, birthday and anniversary
dates, correct mailing addresses. Do we have the right phone numbers to reach you? The end result will be better
communication between us, opening one way that we can get to know each other better. If you receive a call, please
help out the caller by providing good data. Data-thon!! April 20 and 22, 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Pick up the receiver and say
hello!!
FORGIVENESS RETREAT: RESOLVING RESENTMENT
Knowing we need to forgive without knowing how to forgive is radically unhelpful.
In this retreat you will learn how to forgive. One of the main reasons people don’t forgive is that they confuse forgiveness
with reconciliation. Participants in the workshop will not be asked, nor be required, to share any personal details
regarding their need to forgive anyone. All of Fr. Voyle’s work with participants in workshops is ‘content free’. Such
details are not needed to experience the healing and wholeness that Fr. Voyle’s work facilitates and enables. It is quite
amazing actually. Do come, learn and enjoy the experience of the freedom that comes with forgiving those who have
offended you. This one-day retreat is open to all and will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2015, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM
at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. Participants in the Saturday Forgiveness Workshop on How to forgive will not be
asked, nor be required to share any personal details regarding their need to forgive anyone. You are able to register at
the door.
Rain Gardens and Plant Sale Creation Care Team, Saturday April 25
Grab your coffee, juice and something to eat, then learn about Rain Gardens as a way to reduce storm water runoff into
streams and rivers. Landscape architect, Jean Mellott, will give a talk about rain gardens at the Undercroft. See what
it’s all about; a good family activity. Help us plant perennials in the Cathedral’s new rain garden (it’s near the Children’s
Peace Garden). Yes, you can do this at home! Pre-Order native plants and ornamental plants for your garden. Proceeds
to benefit the Cathedral. There will be another opportunity to order plants on Sunday 3 May. For more information
contact Patty Parsley peparsley@gmail.com
Walk the Talk Forum
Join Blue Water Baltimore and Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake at the free Walk the Talk forum on Sunday, April
26 to learn how faith communities in Baltimore have worked to make a difference towards decreasing stormwater
runoff. A series of speakers will provide information about technical, organizational and financial assistance available to
help congregations reduce their stormwater utility fee.
The Diocese of Maryland’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission
Saturday, April 25, 10am-12pm, Cathedral Choir Room: The Diocese of Maryland’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission
is hosting a conversation on The Atlantic Magazine article “A Case for Reparations” by Ta Nehisi Coates. Read the
article at http://theatln.tc/1ha12zO. Register yourself for the discussion by going to the following website: http://bit.

Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) Celebrates 75 years
Each parish in the Diocese of Maryland is contributing toward a gift for the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of
Episcopal Relief and Development. ER&D has been feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, providing water to the
thirsty, welcoming strangers, building and repairing homes and visiting the prisoners around the world for 75 years.
The Cathedral will donate the open plate offering on April 26th toward this gift. If you prefer to write a personal check,
make it out to Cathedral of the Incarnation and write ER&D in the memo line.
Recovery Eucharist at the Cathedral
The Cathedral will offer a Communion Service for Recovering People on Sunday, April 26 at 5:00 PM in the Cathedral
Nave. April is Alcohol Awareness month so the Cathedral, in cooperation with others in the Diocese, and Recovery
Ministries of the Episcopal Church (http://www.episcopalrecovery.org/) is pleased to host this gathering. All are
welcome to gather and Lord’s Table and pray for those in recovery and those who seek a path to health and wholeness.
Celebrating Ben Smith
The Rev. Ben Smith, Canon for the Arts, has decided to leave the staff of the Cathedral at the end of May. Ben will
continue to worship with and support the life of the Cathedral community but he will no longer serve on the staff. To
thank Ben for his many years of service we are collecting gifts to go toward a purse that will be presented on Sunday,
May 31, 2015. If you would like to make a gift write a check to Cathedral of the Incarnation and write “Ben Smith Gift”
in the memo line. You can also make a gift online at the Cathedral website, www.incarnationbmore.org
Summer Worship Time
We are looking for feedback about when people would prefer to worship during the summer. Please fill out the Summer
Worship Time Poll on the Home page of the website: www.incarnationbmore.org. It is located in the right sidebar, below
the calendar listings. Don’t worry, nothing has been decided, and we may keep both 8am and 10:30am services over
the summer. We would like to know IF we moved to just one service over the summer, what would be your preferred
time. Thanks for your participation!
Seminary Student Seeks Summer Housing
Can you provide housing for a seminary student who will be doing their CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) at Johns
Hopkins from May 21 to August 10? She is single and in her 50s and is able to pay rent. Send an email to jhicks@vts.edu
Want to know what is going on at the Cathedral? Go to the Cathedral’s new website, www.incarnationbmore.org,
designed by Julia Pearson, Director of Communications. It is a great resource for upcoming events and services at the
Cathedral.

We pray for the children of Baltimore City who have died as a result of violence this year:
Matthew Arnell Thomas, Malik Fuller and Tywan Rasheed Short
When a child has been killed in the previous week, a candle is lit during the prayers of the people and then
taken to the Children of Light Altar at the front entrance of the church by the narthex.
