Lodging
On-Campus
If you are not going to attend the VAS meeting, but would
like on-campus housing, visit the meeting website and
reserve a room by clicking on the Register Now button on the
home page. ADA compliant rooms are available on campus and can be requested through the
registration process.
All linens will be provided (folded, beds are not pre-made), including pillows, pillowcases, flat
sheets, blankets, towels, and a washcloth. If you are generally cold in nature, then you may
want to bring an extra blanket as the rooms are air conditioned and tend to stay on the cooler
side. There are TVs available in the lounge on each floor. Snack and soda machines are located
on the ground floor of the dorms, but there are no ice machines. There is a kitchen with a
refrigerator in each residence hall, but everyone has access to that area. In order to keep drinks
cold in your room, you may want to bring a cooler to store ice and cold snacks.
Wireless internet is available throughout the residence halls. You will need a JMU-Guest login
and password provided at the judges check-in. Wireless internet is available in the Festival and
campus academic buildings. Should dorm problems arise (lock-outs, cards not functioning, etc.)
please call 540.568.3606 at anytime for assistance.
Loading/Unloading
The road behind the dorms is a fire lane and therefore cannot be used to load/unload cars. If
needed, pull up to the dorm, unload your car to the sidewalk, and park back in C12, otherwise
this is a no loading/unloading zone.
Off-Campus
If you would like off-campus housing, visit the lodging page of the website under Judges for a
list of local hotels. Under JMU Information on the home page is a list of local restaurants as
well.
Meals
Two meals are provided to all judges. Thursday morning, a continental breakfast is provided
during the judges meeting in Festival Ballroom A. Lunch Thursday will be catered and located in
the same building that presentations are held. Judges are invited to come to ISAT Room 259
(towards the front of the building) once their sessions break for lunch for a build-your-ownsandwich buffet. If you have any meal restrictions or allergies, please contact us prior to the
meeting.
For those judges interested in participating in the Dinner with the Scientists, dinner will be
provided. A meal ticket will be included in your registration packet that can be redeemed at East
Campus Dining Hall. This dinner is for students to have the opportunity to talk with experienced
members in fields in which they are interested.
