Spring-Ford Intermediate / Middle School Principals’ Page SPRING EDITION Mrs. Heather Nuneviller, Principal Mr. Mike DeCaro, 5th Grade Principal Mrs. Jen Rinehimer, 6th Grade Principal Dr. Kathie Kotch, 7th Grade Principal Welcome Mr. DeCaro Upcoming Events A letter from Mr. DeCaro to Spring-Ford 5th/6th/7th grade students and families…. 5/1 Spring-Ford Art Fest 5/2 Spring-Ford Art Fest 5/6 5th Grade Reading Olympics 5/11 5th Grade Spring Concert I wanted to take a few moments to introduce myself and to tell you how excited I am to be joining you on May 4th as a 5th grade House Principal. Since my time will be short at 5th Grade, I will continue in 5th grade next year. Mr. Moyer, the current 8th Grade House Principal, will be the 6th Grade House Principal for the 2015-2016 school year. I was able to visit for two days in March and it only made me more enthusiastic about working with the students, parents, and staff here at the 5/6 Center. I was able to see students passionately debate one another on the merits of the Colonists and the British, create projects on Benjamin Franklin, and even be a part of a fire drill on what seemed like the only warm day in March! That time really made it difficult to get through the last month waiting to begin my time here at Spring-Ford! For the last nine years, I have been an eighth grade Language Arts teacher at Colonial Middle School in Plymouth Meeting. While there, I was also a team leader and a District Master Teacher. In those roles, in addition to teaching, I was able to mentor teachers and help other teachers become more effective instructors in the classroom. While I enjoyed teaching and all of the rewarding experiences as part of the process of helping students in my classroom learn, I am even more eager to help all of the students under my care become successful learners in all of their classes as well as helping them become positive, well round individuals. On a personal note, I am married to my best friend, Lindsey, with two beautiful daughters (Julia, almost 8, and Hannah, 5). I enjoy spending time with them (coaching them in sports or just being outside together) as well as following all of the local sports teams...especially the Phillies, Eagles and 76ers! I am sure that these last two months will seem like a whirlwind for all of us getting to know each other and working through the 4th marking period. However, if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to me either via phone or e-mail. I look forward to helping make each student’s and parent’s time while at the 5/6/7 Center a positive and successful experience. 6th Grade Reading Olympics 5/12 MS Spring Concert 5/13 6th Grade Spring Concert 5/18 7th Grade Dodgeball Tournament 5/19 Staff In-Service / No School 5/21 MS Talent Show 5/6 H & S Meeting 5/25 School Closed 5/27 Romans Ecology Trip 5/6 Art Show 5/28 Celts Ecology Trip 7th Grade Scholars Dinner 6/1 5th Grade Extravaganza 6th Grade Hershey Park Trip 6/2 Egyptians End of Year Awards Greeks Ecology Trip 6/3 Celts End of Year Awards Egyptians Ecology Trip 6/4 Incas End of Year Awards Settlers End of Year Awards Explorers End of Year Awards Incas Ecology Trip 7th Grade Student’s of the Month Spring-Ford Art Fest 2015 The following students were nominated by their teachers for showing citizenship and leadership during the month of March.
