On the 3rd day of the Northern Zone Regional Agriculture Fair
Over whelming response for Northern Zone Regional Agriculture Fair – 2015 Bareilly 19 March, 2015. On the 3rd day of the Northern Zone Regional Agriculture Fair – 2015 of Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), one of the main attraction was “Fodder Chaff Cutting Competition for Rural Women”. A total of 182 groups each comprising of 2 ladies participated in the competition and group finishing the chaffing job of 5 kg fodder material in minimum time were adjudged as winner. Ms. Kamla and Savitri from Mudia village of Bareilly bagged the first prize with a timing of 22 seconds. Besides, animal judging competitions for various categories and species of animals viz. cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheeps, horses and poultry were organized in which livestock owners of adjoining areas participated with great enthusiasm. The other attraction of the Fair, “Kisan Goshthi” programme organized for farmers/livestock owners to have objective solution of their agriculture and animal husbandry problems also been in full swing. The programme witnessed the presence of about 1000 farmers both men & women each day of the Agriculture Fair. Experts from outside of the Institute also made their presence at Kisan Goshthies. In each session 100 farmers were awarded for their best answers. During the Agriculture Fair, around 60 stalls by various organizations including ICAR Institutes, SAUs, State Development Departments, Agencies related Postal & Banking, Life Insurance, Medical Services, Pharmaceuticals, Livestock Feed Suppliers, Seed Suppliers, Handicrafts, Chemicals & Fertilizers, Automobiles, Builders & Real Estates and Domestics Appliances participated, which attracted a large number of farmers, livestock owners, agripreneurs and field functionaries. Considering the importance of health of farmers and ensure their well being number of stalls related to Medical health viz., IVRI Human Hospital, SRMS, City Hospital, District Hospital, Rohilkhand Medical College, Mobile Dental Clinic, Manas Clinic & Fertility Centre, Rajshree Medical Research Institute, Bareilly catered the services of free health checkups and medication. Doctors at these health points also interacted with the visitors for their specific health related problems. The Fair also attracted a large number of farmers, local public, school children, college students and professionals. Processed meat products viz., nuggets, meat biscuits, sausages, samosa, pickles, dairy products like, ice-cream, yoghurt, lassi, amla products, Kerala coconut water, vegetable pickles, puppet show, solar pump model of ideal village at extension stall were under discussion for their popularity among the visitors. The Fair on its last day 20th March, 2015 is expected to be visited by more number of farmers from adjoining areas when prize distribution ceremony and valedictory session are scheduled to be held.
