Currently our students are actively involved in Track and Field. The students are training hard and we would like to congratulate our students for their hard work and dedication. We would also like to thank our teachers and student teachers that have spent many hours coaching our students on becoming better athletes. Our April Student Leaders are organizing a Vaisakhi pot-luck lunch on Wednesday, April 29. We would like to thank all the parents who have volunteered to help serve and those who are providing food for this special event. Our student leaders have put a lot of work into this endeavor and your assistance is appreciated. Congratulations to the boys and girls who recently participated in two great activities that challenged their minds and skills. We had a group of students attend the Reading Link Challenge and a group who participated in the Math Celebration. It is great to see Jarvis students stretching their skills beyond the school doors! Thank you to the staff who supported them and to the students who put in great effort to participate. Soon, we will be having our Student-Led Conferences. Your child has been working hard and will enjoy the opportunity to show you all the hard work they have been doing this term. Please make sure that you attend this very important conference on Wednesday, May 20. Please also note that dismissal is at 2:00 that day. Thanks! Have a great May! SCHOOL INFO & REMINDERS Library News Book Fair: Our second Book Fair of the year will be taking place from May 19-22. An Open House will be held on Thursday, June 11 from 9:30-10:30 for incoming Kindergarten children and their parents. Please plan on attending this important event – you will learn about gradual entry, Kindergarten procedures, outline of a typical day, snack and lunch procedures, and what they need to bring, etc. Your child will have an opportunity to spend some time in one of the Kindergarten classrooms with a teacher. We will also have uniform pieces on display and order forms available. Please also bring $40.00 in cash to cover the cost of next year’s Kindergarten supplies. This will be a fun event for your son or daughter! Jarvis Uniforms Our Jarvis PAC will be sending out a notice regarding a raffle to raise funds for our school - a uniform pack worth $139.00! Tickets are 1 for $10.00 or 3 for $25.00. Please buy a ticket(s) to support our fundraising efforts! All order forms are due back to the office by Tuesday, May 19. We are always looking for gently-used Jarvis hoodies, shirts, pants, gym strip, etc. If your child has outgrown his or her clothing, will be moving to a different school, or graduating from grade 7 in June, please consider donating your items back to the school to help someone in need. Just drop them off at the front counter, thank you! Planning for September We are in the final stages of planning for the 2015-2016 school year. If you are moving away or won’t be with us next year, or if you know someone who will be moving into our school catchment, please ensure that the office is advised ASAP. This also includes any Kindergarten student who may not yet have registered. The earlier we have this information, the more accurately we can project our school needs. Programs Student Placement for September – Due Friday, May 1 If you have a class placement request to make for your child, please fill in a Student Placement Consideration Form at the office. It is not possible to request specific teachers, but you are welcome to advocate for placement for your child based on his/her learning needs and styles. Although there is no guarantee that we will be able to place your child as per your request, every effort is made to accommodate each child’s individual learning needs. PAC NEWS Just a reminder that the next Jarvis PAC meeting is Wednesday, May 6 at 3:15 pm in the Library. Please come and bring your ideas so we can make Jarvis Traditional an exciting place to learn.
