PTO Board Election Results
Thank you to everyone who voted in the PTO Election last week!
We are pleased to introduce your 2015 – 2016 PTO Board:
President: Jenny Glasmann
Jenny is a parent of two JA students (K and 2nd) and grew up in the Westminster
area. Her professional work is in HR and she holds a MS from Regis University.
Vice-President: Shayna Chichirico
Shayna is a parent of two JA students (K and 2nd) and has a third child ready to start
in 2016. She is a stay at home mom and has volunteered in many different rolls at JA.
Treasurer: Jessica Tafoya
Jessica is the current PTO Vice-President and is excited to move into the Treasurer
position to utilize her professional skills as an accountant. She has two children at JA
(K and 1st).
Secretary: Reese Evenson
Reese is the current PTO Secretary and is delighted to serve another year in this role.
She has a daughter in 1st grade and in her professional life works in Records
Management.
Parent At-Large Representatives: Amanda Lowe and Lindsay Bunce.
Amanda is a current PTO Parent-at-Large on the PTO Board and is the mother of two,
with one child in 2nd grade at JA. She is the co-chair for the JA SCRIP program and in
her professional life she works in business operations for a software company.
Lindsay is the parent of a JA 1st grader and has a son who will enter JA next year.
She is a marketing director in her professional life and is JA’s volunteer hours
coordinator.
Teacher Representative: Gayle Brodie
This will be Mrs. Brodie’s 3rd year as Teacher Representative. As demonstrated by her
continued service, it is clear that Mrs. Brodie truly enjoys serving as the link between
teachers, parents, and students and providing valuable insight to the parents on the
Board.
Thank You Departing PTO Board Members!
Thank you to Anne Leoni, Shane Anderson, and Justin Glasmann for serving
on the PTO Board.
Anne started as a Parent At-Large Representative and was quickly thrown into the
role of President. This past year Anne has worked hard on putting systems in place to
make it easier for future PTO Board members. Thank you Anne!
Shane has served on the PTO Board for 3 years. He started as Vice-President and
then served as the Tresident/Treasurer for the past two years. Shane has done an
incredible job balancing the PTO budget and negotiating contracts with our fall
fundraising partner. Thank you Shane!
Justin served as a Parent-at-Large and was a key figure in SCRIP fundraising.
Thankfully, Justin will still work on SCRIP! He will be getting used to his new role as First
Man (since his wife Jenny is the incoming PTO President).

Summer Reading Challenge
JA has signed up to participate in the Scholastic Summer Reading
Challenge. This is a free online reading program that invites children to log
their reading minutes to help set a new world record for summer reading.
The goal this year is to be the top school in Colorado! We can do it!
Incoming first grade through incoming sixth grade students can participate.
Incoming first grade students can read with their parents or have their
parents read to them. All other students need to generally read on their
own.
The Summer Reading Challenge started on May 4th and ends on September
4th. For more information, visit www.scholastic.com/summer. If you have

Volunteer Hours
The last day to turn in your volunteer
hours for this school year is May 31st.
We have logged over 11,000 volunteer this
school year so far!
Thanks to everyone for volunteering your
time so that Jefferson Academy can be the
best school in Colorado.

Mileage Club News – 820 Miles and Counting!
Mileage Club participants have already run a total of XXX miles! That’s Awesome!!

As of May 5th, 162 students have completed five (5) miles and received a new
charm. One student has completed 10 miles (!) and received a special charm
and entry into the Jag Jog in August.
Special Charm Day: Tuesday, May 12th will be the last day of mileage club. On
this day, students who complete one mile will receive a special charm. Thank
you to Karly and Zac of Crossfit Undeniable for donating these charms.
The first boy and girl in each grade to reach the 10 mile mark will receive a FREE
ENTRY into the Jag Jog in August and a special 10 toe charm!

About Mileage Club: Mileage Club provides an opportunity for students, grades 1st to 4th to exercise their bodies and
achieve personal goals. Mileage Club is held during lunch recess on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the Elementary track
(weather permitting). Your child needs no special equipment, no permission slips, no sign ups and does not have to pay.
This program is offered to students by the PTO and is noncompetitive and is an OPTIONAL lunchtime activity.
Participants have the opportunity to earn "toe charms" for meeting the benchmarks in the Mileage Club program. For
every 5 miles completed, your child will receive a toe charm and certificate. For every ADDITIONAL 5 miles completed,
students receive an additional toe charm. Occasionally a special charm day is offered, where students run 1 mile in 1
day and earn a charm. Students' mileage will be tracked and celebrated throughout the duration of the program.

Jag Jog 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
The Jag Jog 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run is on August 22nd!
This is a fun, community event that has prizes, music, swag bags, t-shirts
and more (did we mention FUN?). If you didn’t join us last year, consider
coming out this year in support of our wonderful school. Capture the
excitement that your kids have for running from Mileage Club.
