Manager of Advanced Engineering (Current)
All of the controls systems we use are model-based Simulink generated
from complex simulation and algorithms developed using Hardware-in-the-loop
and Software-in-the-loop methodology. In my group specifically, we model
Ultracapcitor, and various Battery chemistries to prove-out architecture
decisions long before we ever go to prototype or ‘mule’ development. I have
migrated key elements of vehicle controls moving away from PLC and
distributed I/O. I serve as the program manager for FTA and DoD funded
research vehicles, projects, and government mandated vehicle durability
testing. I am responsible for three generations of Fuel Cell APU architecture for
the battery dominant hybrid vehicle. Currently working on a new vehicle design
with the world’s largest Fuel Cell OEM to produce the first commercially viable
Fuel Cell Hybrid transit bus. I am also responsible for managing ongoing
validation and compliance of components, sub-systems and vehicles against
regulations and specifications from government, industry and customer inputs.

Lead Product Validation Engineer (Past)
Responsible for the design release of various power electronics (DC-AC and DCDCDC) and the vehicle telemetry system. Developed a real-time telemetry site
for customer, engineering, service and marketing access. Developed an
automated set of Matlab generated data reports for recording metrics on
Energy Storage, Powertrain, and emissions offsets. Responsible for
manufacturing qualification of vehicle subsystems; primarily focused on
electromotive traction drive and energy storage sub-systems. Lead all aspects of
the product validation and field support function at Proterra for battery-electric
and fuel-cell vehicles. Provide clear line-of-site between product in the field and
the engineering group, to facilitate prompt resolution of issues which are
identified during validation or in service. Provide information as to the
reliability, durability, feature-set desirability and customer acceptance as the
products develop a track record with customers.

2008 - 2009
San Diego CA
Director of Engineering
I was responsible for the consumer electronics product development for fullscale production, and for design of the flagship product for the company debut.
I handled engineering staff management; timely and efficient product
completion including mass market studies for an effective product introduction.
I outsourced production of injection molded, cast, pressure formed and
machine parts to companies in Asia and India. Product demonstrations for
investor panels and industry peer review.
ISE Corporation (Now Bluways USA)

Project Engineer
I was engineering support for hybrid vehicle systems and research. I also
handled software integration and field hardware validation. Specifically, I
worked with the Maxwell Ultracapacitor systems and Cobasys NiMH Batteries. I
helped develop validation criteria for one of the first heavy-duty ultra-capacitor
energy storage systems. I was involved in the curriculum development for the
drive system integration teams.

Mechanical Engineer
I was responsible for the mechanical and thermal systems support for
development of dental instruments as well as the design release for
miniaturization of alpha and beta prototypes. I handled Benchmark testing,
prototype analysis, CAD system implementation and management.
