Message from the Principal……
I hope you all had a nice Easter holiday. It’s been lovely seeing the children back this week and we have enjoyed listening to all their stories about the holidays – Easter Show, movies, play dates and holidays to farm stays and Queensland. It’s great to have you all back safely. Teacher Kath is enjoying her holiday in France and Italy and we welcome teacher Kris to John Brotchie. She will be covering Kath on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and I will be doing Monday and Fridays. Kath will be back on Monday 11th May. I have some news to share with you. For terms 2,3 and 4 I have been asked to go and work in the Department of Educations Early Childhood Directorate as a Preschool Advisor. This is an exciting new role for me, where I will be working with all our Preschool right across NSW. This is an opportunity to share my expertise and the excellent program that we provide here at John Brotchie with many other preschools. I will only be taking this position on part time till the end of the year. I will be at John Brotchie on Wednesday and Friday and in the Preschool Advisor role on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. My team of staff at John Brotchie are very experienced and passionate preschool educators. I know that John Brotchie will be in good hands while I am not here. Kath has accepted the role to relive as Principal on the days that I am not here. She is looking forward to the extra responsibility and will be happy to help you if you need anything on those days. Kath will be on class as normal on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Friday. On Wednesday she will be running playgroup in the morning and administrative tasks in the afternoon. Teacher Kris who the children are all getting to know will replace Kath on Wednesday. The staff are looking forward to Term 2, it’s one of our favourite terms with our excursion to the NSW Art Gallery and our visits to Botany Public School. Rebecca Andrews
Immunisation Records
With recent changes to the Public Health Act child care facilities cannot enrol a child unless they are fully vaccinated for their age. This means that you need to keep your child’s immunisation records up to date for us. When your child turns 4 years old they are due for an immunisation. Please as soon as you receive your updated Immunisation Record you need to bring a copy into John Brotchie. Upcoming events

TERM 2 Botany School Kindergarten Visits……
As part of our transition to school program each term we visit Botany School Kindergarten classes. This term’s focus for Coffee Morning is Transition to School. Yes we need to start thinking about getting organised for school. It’s a very popular coffee morning so save the date. More information to come. TERM 2 Working Bee…… Saturday 23rd May
Save the date we will be holding another Working Bee this term. Closer to the date we will put out a list of jobs. If you have a skill or trade and want to help out at other times we always appreciate that – see Rebecca.
Cooking in the Outdoor Kitchen….

Art Gallery Excursions….
During Term 2 we will have 6 visits to the Art Gallery and all the children will have a turn. We take small groups of children to make the excursion safe and more enjoyable. We love having parent helpers on this excursion and we need at least 2 for each one. Joanne has a list of when all the children are going so if you would like to help, come and see Joanne Waiting List for 2016….
Our waiting list for next year opens this term and we will be holding 4 open mornings / afternoons.
