Camping information Camping within the City of Karratha region is permitted at Cleaverville and 40-Mile nature-based camping areas, holiday and caravan parks and, when necessary, the overflow camping area. Camping is not permitted at Balla Balla, Miaree Pool, Hearson’s Cove or any other public area, including town sites, parks/ playground areas, carparks, coastal areas and bushland, unless it is a caravan park or designated camping location. Any person found camping illegally will be issued with an on-thespot $100 infringement notice and will be moved on. Your information will assist the City in following up. National Parks Both entry fees and camping fees apply. Toilets, water, information shelters, picnic tables, gas barbecues are available at various gorges. No pets or animals are permitted in the National Parks. KARIJINI NATIONAL PARK http://parks.dpaw.wa.gov.au/park/karijini Karijini Eco Retreat provides a choice of accommodation facilities ranging from deluxe eco tents to campsites for visitors preferring to take their own accommodation. There are campsites areas available for campers, campervans and caravans. Self registration (entrance fees applies) at two entrances, near Ranger Station and Mount Bruce Road. Camping fees apply in the park and are payable at the Karratha and Roebourne Visitor Centres or from the Visitor Information Centre within the Park Email: enquiries@karratha.wa.gov.au Web: www.karratha.wa.gov.au 40-Mile nature-based campsite (Gnoorea Point) Located approximately 56kms south of sunny Karratha, 40 Mile is an ideal spot for anyone seeking a natural coastal camping area. The splendour of the bay offers not only quality fishing but also protection for those wishing to cool off in the tranquil waters. 40 Mile camping ground is a natural camping area and apart from the natural boat ramp there are no other facilities or amenities available. Visitors are reminded to bring plenty of drinking water, as there is no drinking water provided. Cleaverville nature-based campsite About 26km northeast of Karratha, Cleaverville is a popular spot with a number of ideal sites for camping and day trips, and offers great fishing spots off the beach locations and at the mouth of the Cleaverville Creek. Cleaverville Nature-Based Campsite is a natural camping area and apart from the natural boat ramps and the sullage disposal points, there are no facilities available. Please bring plenty of drinking water as there is none available on site. Camping conditions and fees • Dogs are permitted and the provisions of the Dog Act 1976 apply. Dogs must remain on leash at all times. • Check-in with caretaker during camping season – You may be directed to a suitable site to prevent over-crowding • Camp only within the camp area and on existing sites. Do not clear new sites. Camping is not permitted on coastal rehabilitation works. Maintain a three metre distance between campsites • Rubbish must be placed in bins. On-site bins are for household rubbish only. Please take all else with you. Campsite must be left tidy and clear of all items when you leave. If bins are full, take your rubbish with you. • Do not leave fish offal or carcasses on the beach or land – wrap it and bin it. Remember to fish for the future. • Bring your own water and firewood as no potable water is available on-site and existing foliage may not be damaged. • Small cooking fires are permitted (restrictions apply). Any type of open fire will not be permitted on very high, or above, fire danger days. • No toilet facilities on-site. You must bring your own chemical toilet. Sullage disposal points are available for use by lawful campers. • Please maintain a social environment. Antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated • Vehicles must be either road-registered or off-road licensed and helmets worn. Drive only on existing tracks and watch for wildlife, vehicles and pedestrians. • Be courteous with the use of generators, and switch off between 10pm and 6am. • Caretakers, rangers and police are Authorised Officers. Lawful direction from Authorised Officers must be followed at all times. • Permission to camp may be refused for failure to comply with any condition or Authorised Officer. Camping season runs from 1 May to 30 September. Camping fees apply during this time and are to be paid in advance in full to the City of Karratha caretaker on site.
