Faithful Conversations: Coming Out, Healing the Hurt
Faithful Conversations: Coming Out, Healing the Hurt
- a workshop for individuals, families and the church
Saturday, May 16, 9:00am—2:00pm
Saint Andrew Christian Church
13890 W. 127th St., Olathe, KS
What is Faithful Conversations? A workshop designed to create a safe space
for conversation and storytelling. We’ll acknowledge the harm done by traditional
religious views about homosexuality and encourage healthy conversation that
supports healing for individuals, families, and churches.
Who should come? Anyone whose life has been impacted by this issue:
LGBTQ individuals, families, allies, clergy, youth pastors.
What will happen? Through dramatic presentation, small group discussion, and
stories from panelists, we’ll consider the voices, old and new, that support or harm
individuals, families and churches. We’ll provide resources that foster healing and
reconciliation as we seek to love ourselves and one another.
Who is involved: Sponsored by Saint Andrew Christian Church and designed by
Saint Andrew member Shannon Mullican, LMSW. Shannon is completing a
Certificate in Sexuality and Religion at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley,
California. Disciples of Christ clergy and lay people will participate in the dramatic
presentations and panel discussion.
