Kerry’s Place Autism Services POSITION POSTING # 15-121 POSITION TITLE: Regional Executive Director (Unionized Region) LOCATION: Kerry’s Place East Region POSITION STATUS: Full Time HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week HOURLY PAY RATE: $39.84 - $49.76 per hour CLOSING DATE: 4:30 pm, June 5, 2015 __________________________________________________________________________________________________ POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Regional Executive Director is responsible for the conduct of all strategic and executive functions for Kerry’s Place Autism Services within a defined geographical area, except some associated with the Community Networks of Specialized Support. In the latter cases the Regional Executive Director cooperates to ensure that Kerry’s Place contributions to the Networks of Specialized Supports operate effectively. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide a role model and apply consistent practices to reinforce the Mission, Vision, Values, Principles, Policies and Procedures of Kerry’s Place Autism Services. Demonstrate a strong work ethic in achieving Kerry’s Place strategic objectives though the development and accomplishment of Regional Business Plans to meet or surpass organizational associated key measurement factors, and all relevant government requirements/standards. Create a strategic learning environment across area(s) of responsibility which fosters and supports continuous improvement in the Quality of Life of the Individuals Supported. Ensure Person Directed Planning is effectively implemented and individuals’ goals are being realized. Ensure the Health and Safety of supported individuals and staff through compliance to Provincial and Municipal regulations and by-laws, adherence to the recommendations of the Fire Marshal and compliance to Health and Safety procedures. Provide support through current treatment models and approaches for individuals diagnosed with ASD including Emergency Crisis Intervention. Identify resource needs relative to Regional needs and strategic plans, negotiate funding to meet these needs with MCSS and community partners, and develop budgets accordingly. Maintain each operation within budget. Provide appropriate strategic human resources management to ensure that the practices relating to the recruitment, selection, orientation, supervision and performance management meet the managerial and staff needs now and for the future. Ensure that leadership and communications within areas of responsibility contributes to a positive team-oriented, trusting environment in all involved parties (managers, individuals, family and support circle members, staff, professionals, and government representatives), work together in harmony (most of the time) in the best interests of individuals supported. Maintain appropriate documentation to fulfill legislative and policy and procedural requirements. Ensure appropriate confidentiality is maintained for individuals and employees. Keep current to all related legislative requirements and regulations. Participate, as requested as a member of Provincial and Regional Working Groups and Committees to develop, implement and maintain new legislation, regulations, guidelines, and requirements. Develop and maintaining strong working relationships with families, partner agencies, volunteers, government employees and the community. Develop, implement and lead organizational change. Work with the CEO (and through him/her, the Board) and other members of the Executive Team to continuously advance the strategic direction of Kerry’s Place to becoming a recognized centre of excellence in supporting individuals with ASD, provincially, nationally, and internationally. Continuously provide mentoring, coaching, training and development of managers and employees, both within Kerry’s Place, and for external agencies cooperating in the support of individuals with ASD and their families. Work to build community capacity and awareness through workshops, education, advocacy and partnering. Participation in both internal and external committees and task forces. Administration of the Collective Agreement where applicable. Other projects and duties as assigned. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: Completion of a social services degree from a recognized Community College or University, preferably with relevant post-graduate qualifications Five years of experience in senior leadership/executive capacities. Extensive knowledge of current developments and approaches in supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. Extensive working knowledge of legislation (e.g., DSA, CFSA, Health Care Consent Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Human Rights Act, etc.) and regulations having to do with supporting individuals with ASD and their families at all ages, as well as how this and other legislation and regulations are applied in cooperation with other sectors, agencies and jurisdictions. Working knowledge of other related legislation and regulations such as Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Excellent interpersonal and team building skills. Strong administrative skills including operational planning, financial budgeting, organization, human resource management and time management. Working knowledge of computers and software such as Microsoft Office, Email and the Internet. Demonstrated flexibility, innovation and creativity. Excellent problem solving, leadership and supervisory skills. Self motivated and self directed. A valid Driver’s License, with a minimum G2, a reliable vehicle and a willingness to travel. French language skills will be considered an asset.
