Fractional Collagen
Induction Therapy (FCIT),
is no new player in the arena
of aesthetic treatments. It
has, however, been refined
over the years. As a result,
softer, smoother skin with
minimal discomfort and
downtime and predictable
results are a reality.
The Treatment
Like fractional laser
treatments, superficial
microscopic injuries are
made to the skin. With
laser, these are thermal
injuries; with FCIT, they
are mechanical, using
very fine surgical needles.
Both stimulate the body’s
natural healing response to
ultimately increase collagen
in the treated areas.
Advantages &
Disadvantages
FCIT has several
advantages over laser
treatments. Treatment costs
are much less than that
of laser. FCIT’s gentler
nature mean less patient
discomfort, no down time
and more predictable
results. Because of its less
aggressive nature, however,
FCIT is less effective for
deep wrinkles and scars.
