WHY?
Did you know that your health is affected by where you live, by the amount of money you make, & by
your ethnicity? Of all Colorado counties, Lake County ranks 48th for overall health; Pitkin, Eagle
and Summit Counties all rank in the top 5.1 These health differences are unfair and avoidable – we
need community leaders to help change them! By working together as a community to develop family
and community leaders we can tackle our greatest challenges and move toward health equity for Lake
County.
WHAT IS A CIVIC DESIGN TEAM (CDT)?
A collaborative group representing the community’s assets. The major decision making body for the
management and implementation of FLTI and Lake County’s health equity advocacy initiative.
WHAT IS FLTI?
The Family Leadership Training Institute (FLTI) is:
• A civic leadership initiative
• A public-private community partnership
• A training ground in civics and democracy
FLTI teaches parents, caregivers, and community members who want to
improve the lifelong health, safety, and learning of children and youth, how
to become change agents for the next generation.
WHAT IS THE HEALTH EQUITY ADVOCACY INITIATIVE?
Lake County’s effort to ensure that all community members have full and equal access to opportunities
that enable them to lead healthy lives.
WHO IS INVITED?
Anyone who feels passionate about developing community leaders and
improving health in Lake County!
Please come to the Civic Design Team Forum – we need you to be a part of building
leaders and making positive change in Lake County!
Please email karla.alder@gmail.com to RSVP – your RSVP will
help us plan for enough food!
