POSITION SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: Human Resources Manager REPORTING TO: Director, Glass Fiber Operations LOCATION: Corvallis, OR THE COMPANY: Evanite Fiber Corporation Evanite Glass Fiber manufactures specialty glass fibers used in high efficiency and ultra-high efficiency filter media for use in electronic clean rooms, medical facilities and nuclear power applications. Other industries where glass fiber’s special characteristics are used in filtration applications include automotive, medical, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage. Glass fiber is also used as a battery separator media, as well as thermal and acoustical insulation applications. Evanite is wholly owned by the Hollingsworth & Vose Company. Hollingsworth & Vose is a profitable, privately-held company based in East Walpole, Massachusetts. H&V designs, develops, manufactures and delivers specialty non-woven products for a variety of industrial applications and markets. Since 1843, H&V has been a technical leader in specialty industrial papers. Specialty roll goods manufactured by H&V are found in applications including engine filtration media, high efficiency filtration media, battery separator products, gasket materials, and specialty and industrial nonwovens. The Company has revenues exceeding $400 million and manufactures products in seven domestic locations, as well as in the United Kingdom, Germany, China and Mexico. SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of all aspects of human resources for approximately 140 individuals. Key activities include succession planning, recruiting, performance management, compensation, benefits, human resources information systems, organizational development, affirmative action, labor relations, collective bargaining, employee relations and other HR administrative functions. A key part of the responsibilities include the support of the implementation of Safety and Lean programs and processes that promote and strengthen a company culture focused on safety, performance improvement, personal accountability and employee involvement. The Human Resources Manager will act as a coach and counselor to Managers in order to strengthen the overall leadership group. Specific Responsibilities: Responsible for the labor and employee relations strategy development and implementation, including labor contract administration, negotiations, interpretation and grievance handling. Responsible for developing and implementing key initiatives in all HR areas including succession planning, performance management, recruiting, improved employee communications and organizational development, training, recognition and disciplinary actions as required. Responsible for oversight of HR administrative functions including communications, benefits, wage and salary administration and all associated record keeping. Oversee workers' compensation and disability case management. Ensure legal compliance in all appropriate areas such as EEOC, FLSA, FMLA. Advise local managers on important human resource trends, laws and policies, and perform special studies and assignments. Position Specification Human Resources Manager Page 2 EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED: Direct experience at the front-line level with recruiting, staffing, employee/labor relations and pay and benefits administration in a union environment; Previous experience supporting a 24/7 manufacturing schedule, (e.g. papermaking, printing, chemical manufacturing, film extrusion or injection molding) may be relevant; A “hands-on” style, to build trust throughout the organization and the ability to provide a customer service orientation to Human Resources in dealings with all levels of employees, management and vendors; Ability to function professionally under pressure and in conflict situations; Exposure and previous experience with the implementation of Lean Practices in a manufacturing environment is desirable. Demonstrated success in creating a culture of performance and continuous improvement within a union environment could be a differentiating factor. EDUCATION: An educational background that includes a BS degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business or a related course of study; SPHR certification preferred; A minimum of seven years of direct experience as the leader of the Human Resources function at a field location with over 100 employees; Position Specification Human Resources Manager Page 3 COMPENSATION: Based on the significant impact of this position, the successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package including a competitive base salary, incentive bonus based on company and individual performance and a competitive benefits package.
