Milton Bryan Scout Camp to Stanbridge Five Bells 5.6 miles
Start postcode MK17 9HR. Finish postcode LU7 9JF
Please note: You are using public footpaths. Look for sign posts. At most
stiles/gates there are arrows pointing you in the direction of the path. Close
gates behind you. Beware of cattle and roads.
Abbreviations: X = Cross, Thru = through, FP = Footpath, BW = Bridleway, ST =
Stile,
KG = Kissing Gate, FB = Footbridge.
Starting inside Milton Bryan Scout Camp:
The (FP) starts behind the scout huts, in-between some trees, keeping scout
huts to your left & follows around the edge of the scout camp.
X the road. FP continues on the right hand side of the church.
Enter field thru the gate & head down the field to the next gate between the
barn and house.
X road and enter field ahead. FP goes to the right, across the field aiming for
half way up the hedge, to the left of the cricket club. Continue in same
direction heading to the far corner towards the gate house behind the hedge
on the road. The gate is in hedgerow.
X the road to the gate house (Beware of fast moving traffic) Enter thur heavy
gate and over the ST keeping house to your right. Continue along Battlesden
Ave thur two gates. There are sign posts along route.
Follow the FP marked on a gate, alongside the properties, heading towards the
church. Follow the road for 400 meters until to see a FP post sign on your right.
Follow FP over the brow of the hill. Once over look for yellow marker in
between hedges ahead. Continuing through the next field in the same
direction towards the tree line. X the footbridge then head up to the gate in
the corner.
X the field heading right 2 o’clock passing the lone tree on your left and the A5
is on your right. The gate is in the far corner out of sight.
Go through the gate onto the A5. (Beware of fast moving traffic) X the road.
The FP continues on the other side. X the field. Use arrow on sign for direction.
Heading to yellow marker. The KG is in hedge.
The FP goes straight into the field then has a sharp left around the edge of the
field. Heading towards the Church.
Turn left along the road. Bearing right at the green. Passing houses on your
right. The FP is on the right through a wooden gate opposite the marked FP on
the left. There are no signs here. Enter the field going over the brow of the hill
keeping the houses to your right. Head towards the metal gate. There are FP
arrows on the post. The path heads left 10 o’clock towards the farm house. X
the footbridge. KG is in the corner.
X second footbridge and enter field. FP goes diagonal across the field towards
yellow marker. Follow FP signs, thru KG onto road.
X the road (Beware of fast moving traffic). Climb the gate into the lane.
Continue up the lane until the end. Turn right. FP sign is inside field. Passing
the fishing ponds on your right. Continue straight until you reach the road.
You will now run along the road until Stanbridge. Turn left along the road,
bearing left at the green. Follow road sign Stanbridge 3/4mi. Follow road up
over the hill passing the Mill (house) at the top, down into Stanbridge. At the T
Junction, turn right along the pavement. The Five Bells Pub is up ahead and
the finish line.
