Note: All campground loops are open from at least mid-May through mid-September. F Loop is open year-round. Limited Parking Detroit Lake State Recreation Area On OR 22, 2 miles W of Detroit 44000 N. Santiam Hwy SE, Detroit, OR 97342 503-854-3346 Latitude: 44.729984 N Longitude: -122.176582 W Campsites are limited to eight people and two vehicles to protect natural resources. Parking for one vehicle is included in the campsite rate; a second vehicle is subject to an extra vehicle fee per night. All vehicles must be parked on the pavement at the site or in a designated parking area. Once a site has two registered vehicles, no other vehicle can register to that site. Designated parking areas at Detroit are assigned and used only for boat trailers and second vehicles that cannot fit on site pavement. The park has no overflow parking. Smoking in Oregon State Parks is allowed only in personal vehicles, RVs, campsites and portions of day use parks along state highways that are designated as safety rest areas by the Oregon Department of Transportation. The campground has horseshoe pits, a basketball court and a volleyball area; check out equipment from the registration booth. Loop A has a playground. A 2.7-mile hiking trail runs the perimeter of the campground. The Detroit Lake Visitor Center has information on activities and services in the area. Purchase books, gifts, bagged ice, coffee and soft drinks in the gift store. Mongold Day-Use Area Mongold Day-Use Area is located 1.2 miles west of the campground on Oregon Highway 22. It offers year-round boating access, weather permitting. Facilities include: • Large paved boat ramp with seasonal courtesy dock • Low-water winter ramp • Enclosed swim area with a grass “beach” • Restrooms with changing areas • Picnic area • 72 single-car and 120 RV/trailer parking spaces Overnight parking at Mongold is permitted if you are camping on Piety Island or on a shoreline accessible only by boat. A valid day-use parking permit is required for all days the vehicle is in the park. The park’s fishing dock is accessible from the F loop area. Anglers can search out rainbow trout, catfish, kokanee (landlocked blueback salmon), and landlocked Chinook. Courtesy boat ramps are located in the D and G loops, with 15-minute time limits for loading and unloading passengers and gear. Boat trailer parking is available at the G loop ramp. Overnight boat moorages are available in the F and H loops and may be rented by registered campers. Day-Use Parking Day-use parking permits are required year-round in both the Mongold Day-Use Area and the Detroit Lake campground. You will need to display either a daily permit, a 12- or 24-month permit, or a camping receipt. Your camping receipt serves as a daily permit for all of the days you are registered. You can purchase a daily permit at the entrance booth or from a nearby vending machine. The 12-month and 24-month day-use permits are sold at the overnight campground booth and at major state park offices. Riders under age 16 must wear helmets. • Pets must be physically restrained at all times when not confined in a vehicle or tent. Leashes must be no longer than six feet.
