This month, Joe’s will take guests on a tour of one of Spain’s top wine regions: Rioja. Guests can enjoy the 2013 Bodegas Ontañon “Clarete” Rosé ($8/6oz), a bright citrusy rosé with notes of mandarin orange, pink grapefruit, and nectarine. This wine is an ideal sipper on its own or with Joe’s seafood chopped salad. From the most traditional estate in Rioja, the 2000 R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia ($9/3oz or $18/6oz) shows remarkable freshness for its age. Notes of sea breezes combine with fresh fennel, dried apricots and white almonds, to provide a truly memorable white wine tasting experience. This wine pairs wonderfully with Joe’s grilled seafood platter. The 2004 La Rioja Alta 904 ($12/3oz or $24/6oz) is truly a masterpiece of Rioja. Mixing bright candied cherries with notes of leather, roasted coffee and truffles, Joe’s recommends pairing this wine with its Colorado double-cut lamb chops. The modern 2005 Muga Torre Muga ($19/3oz or $38/6oz) will please fans of rich, dense reds, with its intense notes of raspberry and blackberry, combined with hints of smoke, pepper, and creamy vanilla. This blockbuster wine pairs perfectly with Joe’s signature bone-in rib eye steak. Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab serves lunch and cocktail hour in addition to nightly dinner service. The restaurant is located at 750 15th Street NW (at H Street) and is open Monday through Thursday 11:30am-11:00pm, Friday through Saturday 11:30am-12:00am and Sunday 11:30am-10:00pm.
