How to install Lock Solar earthing components
Introductiontoearthing
The"TL"ortransformer‐lessinvertersthataremostcommonlyavailabletoday,all
recommendtoprovideearthingtothesolarpanelframesandrailingcomponents.In
somecountriesthisismandatorylaw,whileinothercountriesitisnot.Inallcases,
LockSolarrecommendsthatthesecomponentsbeearthed,asperthelocalelectrical
andinstallationstandardsandlaws.
LockSolarhastwocomponentsthatcanbeused,whenearthingoftheinstallationis
required.Theyare:

TheEarthingLugisusedtoelectricallyconnectrailstoacommonearthingconnection
point(suchasanACswitchboardorinverterearth).ForeveryRailJoinerusedthere
needstobetwoEarthingLugsinstalled,attachedateitherendofit.Usea100mmlong,
earthcablelink(4mmdiametergreen/yellowcable)inordertoelectricallyconnectthe
twoLugstogether.
TightenthestainlesssteelEarthingLugscrewthroughtheEarthinglugpiece,applyinga
torqueofaround8Nmintothecopperearthingwire.Ensureafterthatthecopperwire
isfastenedok,byagentle“pull”ofthecable.

LockSolarEarthingClip(107‐001)
TheEarthingClipisahighqualitystainlesssteelclip,whichprovidesareliableearthing
connectionbetweenthesolarpanelframeandtheRail.Itislocatedundereveryother
MidClampandisnotusedwithEndClamps.
EveryEarthingClipcanthereforeearthtwopanelssimultaneously,asshowninthe
followingdiagram.Withoddnumberpanelstrings,thererequiresanadditionalClipat
theverylastpanel.

InstallingtheEarthingClip
Step1:SlightlyliftupthespringontheMidClamp,andslidetheEarthingClipintothe
bottomoftheclamp,sothatitlaysontheRailNut.
TheEarthingClipfitsinbetweenthetopoftheRailNutandthebottomoftheSpring.
Step2:CliptheMidClampintotheRail,locatedinbetweenthesolarpanels.
Besureto"CLIP!"theEarthingClipintoplace,ontotheRail.
FirmlypushtheClipdownintotheRail,untilyouheara"click!"sound.

Step3:Slidethepanelsintoplace,andovertheEarthingClip.
Step4:TightentheMidClampintoplace.
EnsurethattheEarthingClipissecuredinbetweenthepanelframeandtheRail.
