 UW-­‐Manitowoc Student Activities Coordinator ATTENTION: University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic
Student Activities Coordinator with a strong commitment to service and higher education. This is
a full-time, fixed renewable academic staff position, reporting to the Assistant Campus Dean for
Student Affairs. Primary responsibilities include advising the student senate, coordination of
student activities, campus event planning, academic advising and other duties as assigned. Some
travel, nights and weekends may be required.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
The duties for which the Student Activities Coordinator is responsible include, but are not
limited to:
Student Activities Coordination: 50%

Advise and assist the duly-elected representatives of the student body, the Student
Senate;
Assist the Student Senate in developing a plan for engaging, entertaining and educational
activities and programming throughout the academic year;
Provide information and assistance to student government to ensure that their activities
comply with relevant University policies and procedures;
Collaborate with staff at Silver Lake College and Lakeshore Technical College to provide
joint off-campus recreational events for students;
Promote student events to staff, faculty and students;
Provide general oversight of all campus student organizations;
Assist and provide training to faculty/staff advisors for student organizations;
Organize and ensure completion of student organization recognition paperwork;
Serve as advisor to the Student Ambassador program and ensure they receive appropriate
training to serve as representatives of campus;
Plan and coordinate events involving the Student Ambassadors, e.g. phone-a-thons,
campus tours, etc.
On-Campus Enrollment-management Support and Event Planning: 30%

Develop strategies to ensure smooth and timely transition through the admission process
from the time a student is admitted until they are a registered student on campus;
Plan and coordinate student orientation and registration (SOAR) sessions for new
freshmen and Youth Options students;
Coordinate and oversee Placement Testing dates, including regional testing that occurs on
campus;
Assist in the development and execution of programs and initiatives designed to promote
student retention;
Oversee testing services provided by the Student Affairs office for students with
accommodations or needing third party proctoring;

Plan and coordinate campus events including, but not limited to: Campus Visit Days,
College Goal WI, Preview Nights, College Options Night, Transfer Fairs.
Academic Advising: 15%

Provide academic advising to new and continuing students in the areas of the Associate
Degree requirements, course selection, requirements of the major, and transfer
requirements;
Serve as primary advisor for assigned pre-majors;
Keep current on advising matters and maintain contact with transfer institutions. Utilize
current technology-assisted advising tools, including the Transfer Information System
and the UW Help site;
Assist students as needed in the career-selection process;
Advise incoming students on the transfer and/or applicability of AP credits, IB credits,
and transfer credits.
Campus Committee Work, UW Colleges Service, and Other Duties as Assigned by
Assistant Campus Dean for Student Affairs: 5%
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor's degree, minimum of 1 year relevant experience; experience working as a team
member and in developing collaboration, excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
knowledge of current issues in Student Affairs and use of student information systems, ability to
relate to and work effectively with students and other stakeholders, demonstrated commitment to
diversity and inclusive communities, demonstrated understanding of the mission of UW Colleges
and UW-Manitowoc, demonstrated ability to develop and successfully implement ideas and
programs in Student Affairs.
Preferred:
Master's degree in counseling, student personnel advising, higher education administration, or
related; experience with budget management, minimum three years higher education experience
in student affairs; minimum three years student advising experience.
CAMPUS INFORMATION:
UW-Manitowoc, which is one of the 13 freshman-sophomore transfer institutions of the
University of Wisconsin, is located on 40 beautiful acres along the shore of Lake Michigan on
the southeast side of Manitowoc. With the completion of major renovations and the addition of a
performing arts buidling, UW-Manitowoc has three, connected, multi-functional buildings,
housing classrooms, science and computer laboratories, a student commons and cafeteria, a
gymnasium, a 350-seat theatre, and a library. The campus serves over 600 students from the
surrounding counties in a college environment that provides for small classes and individualized
student attention. Manitowoc , along with the adjacent community of Two Rivers, creates a
population of approximately 50,000 people. It is within easy driving of the urban centers of
