Rodney Thaxton Justice Fund Martin E. Segal Fund Deadline: April 16, 2015 History The Rodney Thaxton Justice Fund was established to honor the memory of a great social advocate. Scholarships are awarded to African American students who are committed to social justice. Martin E. Segal, a lawyer and lecturer, established the Martin E. Segal Fund to augment the annual scholarship granting of the Rodney Thaxton Justice Fund. Deadline Applications must be submitted online by Thursday, April 16, 2015. If an application is missing information, our offices will not inform the applicant. Faxed applications will not be accepted. Eligibility In order to qualify, applicants must: Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident Be an African American high school senior Award Rodney Thaxton Justice Fund - Five $1,000 scholarship grants are awarded annually Martin E. Segal Fund – Six $1,000 scholarship grants are awarded annually Selection Criteria A Scholarship Advisory Committee will review and rate the applications and make final decisions on scholarship awards. Volunteer/ Work Experience and School Activities In 250 words or less, please describe (in chronological order) volunteer experience, school activities and/or work experience you have been involved in while attending high school 2 IV. Letters of Recommendation Please submit two letters of recommendation from individuals that are familiar with your academic work, career goals and character. V. Grade Point Average/ Transcript Please attach an official transcript. Do not send the transcript separately. Downloaded grades from the internet (unofficial transcripts) will not be accepted.
