Scholarships are awarded to active teachers or to students officially enrolled in a teacher education program and who are committed to teaching in Missouri schools. The scholarship committee includes Marcia Slaughter, chair; Frieda Hornback, Barbara Maxwell, Anna Lou Tommey and Ken Dillner. These members have been aggressive in seeking funding for the awards. Their efforts helped them gain funding from Anheuser Busch and Enterprise Car Rental. Grant money is used by active classroom teachers to fund classroom projects. These grants have become more competitive as more schools learn about the grant. It is just one way that the Foundation can make an impact on the education of Missouri students and encourage classroom teachers. These two programs are very important to the Foundation as a whole and make its work rewarding.
