Transitions
A 5Rhythms Workshop
With David Juriansz
April 24-26th 2015
Transitions...are part of life. From daylight to darkness, working week to weekend,
autumn to winter, old age to dying...yet even with this constant pulse, there are
times we become acutely aware of a transition phase we are in. In such times it is
wise to listen to the language of the body - our emotional reactions, our sense of
self in relationship, our health. I love the dancing stories of people moving through
transition. We can learn so much from each other.
For me, as for thousands of people, Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms have been both an
exhilarating, inspiring practice and solid ground for support in times of change. In this
workshop, we will make physical, the transitions from flow to staccato, from staccato
to chaos and so on through stillness and back to flow. I will offer a range of practical
tools to activate our movement practice on the dancefloor, so it becomes easier to
access this wisdom in the transitions of daily life.
After 16 years of dancing and 4 years of teaching weekly, this is my first full workshop
offering in my hometown. I hope you will join me, and bring your own unique dancing
story, so together we can follow this elegant map into the territory of transition.
