The MS Society of Canada, BC & Yukon Division, presents MS Expressions, an art exhibition showcasing visual arts created by people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and neuromyelitis optica (NMO). Art forms such as painting, photography, printmaking, drawing, ceramics and studio crafts are invited for submission. DATE OF EXHIBITION: The exhibition will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 with a reception from 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm LOCATION: The exhibition will be held in the Lower Lobby of Metrotower III, 4730 Kingsway, Burnaby, BC (connected to Metrotown mall). ENTRY FEES: There is no cost to submit art for display. In order to showcase a variety of art and artists, we request a maximum of three pieces per artist please. We are prohibited from offering or making any sales during exhibition. ENTRY AND RELEASE FORM DEADLINE: The completed entry and release form must be received by 3:00 pm on Friday, April 17, 2015. DELIVERY OF WORK: Work must be delivered to the MS Society offices at 1103 – 4730 Kingsway, Burnaby or 1004 North Park Street, Victoria by 3:00 pm on Friday, April 17, 2015. Please ensure that the Identification Form is completed and attached to the back of each work. Artists are responsible for arranging the delivery and pick up of each art piece but may contact their local MS Society chapter office for potential assistance. PICKUP OF WORK FOLLOWING EXHIBITION: Work must be collected from the MS Society offices between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm on Friday, April 24 unless special arrangements are made. Because there is no storage space at the MS Society, work not picked up on this date will be returned the following week to the artist via courier at the artist’s expense. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION • The MS Society of Canada will take the utmost care in handling the work but cannot be responsible for loss or damage. • To ensure originality and quality, work will NOT be accepted that is: a copy of the work of others; made entirely from a kit or commercial design; and/or an article made entirely from a commercial mold. • All pieces must be dry and ready to be displayed. All unframed artwork needs a hanging sleeve, cleat or loops/rings on the back of the work. • Sorry, no on-line or digital media artworks can be accommodated. • For the protection of both people and work, each piece must be designed such that one person can easily carry it. • Works exceeding four feet (4’) in width (including the frame), or of excessive weight or height, will be refused by the Committee receiving the work at the time of delivery. • Multi panel or multi component pieces (i e diptychs, triptychs) will be accepted; however the whole work cannot exceed the 4-foot width limitation as outlined above. • By entering this exhibit, permission is given to the MS Society of Canada to photograph accepted works for publicity and documentary purposes, including promotion of the exhibition on their website and through social media. • Artists may be asked to provide a short (2-3 sentences) artist’s statement about that particular work. The MS Society of Canada reserves the right to refrain from displaying artwork that is deemed inappropriate for this Exhibit.
