2015 Calcutta
The Calcutta has long been a tradition that has assisted us to build and maintain the jumping equipment
that we see here today. Unfortunately, it has not always been within the possibilities for everyone to
participate. This year in our 33rd year of Easter Carnivals, we are pleased to offer the opportunity for all
to participate, have some fun and at the same time support the club and this event.
To enable everyone to join this activity we are offering two options.
OPTION 1 - Calcutta
1. Conducted on Saturday night at the South Gambier Football Club Dining Hall.
2. Groups of 2-3 horses will be put together by selected personnel and made available on each table in the
dining hall.
3. An auction will be conducted on each group with the highest bidder winning that group.
4. The person who has won the group that contains the class winner will take home the prize. This will be a
winner take all prize, with no second or third placing.
a. Please note that the prize will consist of 50% of the auction’s takings. The remaining 50% will go
to supporting the club.
OPTION 2 – Raffle
1. You may purchase raffle tickets at $1.00 per ticket.
2. At the end of the auction, the raffle tickets will be drawn.
3. The owner of the first ticket drawn will have the choice of all the groups to put their name on. The owner of
the second ticket drawn will have the choice of the remaining groups to put their name on. This will
continue until all groups have been allocated.
4. As with OPTION 1, the person who has the group with the class winner will take home the prize and again
a winner take all prize.
a. Please note that the prize pool will consist of 80% of the total takings from the raffle tickets. The
remaining 20% will go to supporting the club.
Please remember this is a fundraising activity for our club and is also about all being able to have an
interest & some fun.
