Selecting Your Baby’s Doctor
Remember to choose a doctor for your baby before your baby is born. Your
baby will need well visits, immunizations, and care if they are ill. Here at Kaiser
Permanente you may choose either a Pediatrician or a Family Medicine Doctor
to care for your child. Pediatricians take care of infants, children, and teenagers.
Family Medicine doctors can take care of your whole family including, parents,
infants and children. Either type of doctor will provide care, support, and
guidance, and partner with you and your family in your most important job,
being a parent.
We cannot assign your baby to a Pediatrician or Family Medicine doctor until
after the baby is born. However, you can learn about the physicians you might
want to have care for your baby ahead of time so we can assign one of these
doctors as soon as your baby arrives.
You can visit or Kaiser Permanente Members’ website or call Member Outreach
to learn more about the two departments and their doctors.
•
Online: Log on: www.kp.org/mydoctor, and follow the link under “Select a
personal physician” to learn about the Pediatricians and Family Medicine
Doctors who are accepting new patients.
