March 17 SBDM Meeting Minutes
Nancy Neal Elementary SBDM Committee Meeting March 17, 2015 Meeting Minutes The Nancy Neal Site Based Decision Making committee was called to order on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 4:02 p.m. in the Nancy Neal library. Committee members present were: Jana Arneel, Tamara Bounds, Brandy Buck, Lena Kawar, Bonnie Liakos, Robin Luecke, Shedera Morrison, Mary Muro, Jolene Prust, Rob Romaguera, Chuck Roberts, and Donna Shores. Others who were in attendance were Joanne Baylis and Taleisha Taylor. Members who were not present: Betsey Backman, Ricky Lightfoot, Monique McGrew, Tameka Patton, Tammy Rountree. Rob Romaguera welcomed all members to the meeting. The January minutes were read by Rob Romaguera and reviewed by members. There were no corrections. Rob Romaguera reviewed the College and Career Readiness Plan, “every child deserves opportunity to be educated in a way that prepares them for college.” He also presented information on No Excuses University. Explanations were provided as needed. He also talked about the Nancy Neal Elementary student achievement and mind set for our campus in reading writing, and math. A short video was shown on Advanced Academics and what is offered here in MISD. Taleisha Taylor presented information over parent panel and what all it entails. Questions from the group were answered fully by Taleisha Taylor. Rob Romaguera discussed the theme of our district and looking at it as a whole and related it to the progress that we are making towards our CIP. Joanne Baylis reviewed benchmark data from this year along with STAAR results from last year. She gave the group a break down which showed strengths, weaknesses, and which areas still need work. Lena Kawar reviewed a blue print of the math benchmark data and it was broken down into categories for each 4th grade class. Explanations were provided as needed. Mary Muro and Joanne Baylis reviewed information from ISIP/DRA reading levels, Moby Max, and ISTEEP. For those who were not familiar with these programs, explanations were provided as well. Rob Romaguera closed the meeting with questions, comments, and concerns. The next SBDM meeting is scheduled for May 26, 2015 The meeting was adjourned at 4:58.
