Frequently asked questions What is Confident Girls about? Confident Girls is about giving those who can least afford it, the chance to play netball too. An initiative of the Netball Foundation in partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation, Confident Girls is shooting for $100,000 to reach up to 5,000 girls who don’t yet know the joy of netball. The aim of Confident Girls is to give more girls the chance to: Build confidence both on and off the court. Be fit, be healthy, be strong. Make friends and have fun. Where will my donation go? Donations will fund netball programs, equipment and coaching in disadvantaged communities across Australia. How long does the Confident Girls campaign run? Confident Girls was launched on 15 June and runs to National Netball Day on Saturday 25 July. However, you can donate at any time to the Netball Foundation www.netballfoundation.com.au to help disadvantaged girls play netball. How do I donate? You can pass on the inspiration of netball and donate directly. Pick up your phone and text NETBALL to 0477 333 999 Or reach out to your community to fundraise. Netball Australia has partnered with the Australian Sports Foundation to help raise funds. The Australian sports Foundation is listed in the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 as a Deductible Gift Recipient enabling donations of $2 be tax deductible. The Australian Sports Foundation will issue receipts. Are there incentives to fundraise or donate? Yes. There’s a chance for fundraisers to win memorable experiences. The Netball Foundation has planned a range of incentives for Confident Girls and will keep you informed. In the meantime: Imagine tossing the coin at the Netball World Cup in Sydney. Who decides where Confident Girls funds are invested? The Netball Foundation uses a rigorous process to ensure funds reach disadvantaged girls. A Committee appointed by the Board oversees grant giving transparency and accountability. How do I know my money is going to those who need netball most? The Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA) (a measure of geographically concentrated disadvantage) will be used to determine where Confident Girls funds are invested. The SEIFA was created by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and uses information such as low income, low education and occupational status as markers of disadvantage. Communities with no existing netball programs are prioritised. Can anyone donate to Confident Girls? Yes. Join in the fun and share the love of netball to give those girls who need netball most a go! How much money do I need to donate? You can donate as little or as much as you want. If a lot of people give a little, more girls will benefit from the game. Any donations over $2 are fully tax deductible. How will my money be invested? The Netball Foundation will use donations to Confident Girls to fund netball programs, equipment and coaching to those who can least afford it. Here’s how your money could be spent: $15 pays for a NetSetGO Participant pack. $25 pays for a disadvantaged girl to try netball at a NetSetGO clinic. $100 pays for a NetSetGO coordinator to complete the Foundation Coaching Course. $300 buys all the balls and equipment for one NetSetGO centre. $4,950 funds a non-profit organisation to run a NetSetGO program for 30 disadvantaged girls over eight weeks. ($20/girl/session). $8,570 funds a Multi-Cultural Service Provider to run a NetSetGO program for 20 disadvantaged girls over 12 weeks. ($35/girl/session). $10,000 funds an Indigenous Service Provider to run a NetSetGO program for 30 disadvantaged girls over 10 weeks. ($33/girl/session). How much of my donation goes on administration costs? No funds donated to Confident Girls will be used for administration costs. Netball Australia uses other revenue streams to cover associated administration and fundraising costs. Depending on how you donate the Australian Sports Foundation retains a 5% administration fee from donor transactions that are made using a credit card or Give Easy (SMS and peerto-peer platform donation functionality) retains a 2.9% administration fee from donor transactions that are made using a credit card. How will I know if my donation has made a difference? Transparency is a key value of the Netball Foundation and we commit to reporting back to all those who donate on how the money raised from Confident Girls has supported disadvantaged girls, how we have used your money, and what impact and outcomes we have achieved. A Donors Report will be published annually, along with ongoing updates and stories. What is NetSetGO? Inclusion NetSetGO introduces girls with disability, disadvantaged, underprivileged, marginalised, Indigenous, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse to netball. Developed as a modified program for juniors, Inclusion NetSetGO can be adapted to suit the specific needs and abilities of diverse groups. More about what is NetSetGO? Inclusion NetSetGO can be offered in two formats: 1. Inclusion NetSetGO Program is a 8-10 week program, which includes NetSetGO resources (session plans, coordinator manual), a NetSetGO Equipment Kit or Ball Kit, and an item for all participants. 2. Inclusion NetSetGO Clinics are a “come and try” exposure program run for a maximum of four weeks, which include NetSetGO resources (session plans, coordinator manual) and an item for all participants. Is my privacy protected? The Australian Sports Foundation, Netball Australia and Give Easy comply with the Privacy Act 1988, in relation to any Personal Information that is collected, used or disclosed.
