If a course is cancelled, registrants will be given one week’s notice and a full refund. ‐ There is NO REFUND on classes the student cancels less than 14 days prior to the start of the class. ‐ There are no discounts, credits or refunds for classes not attended by the student. You will create a vase that will then be fired in time for your next workshop in which you will learn how to paint and seal your vase. Additional $25 materials fee, payable to the instructor. Sat. June 27 & Sat. July 18 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (each day) Learn how to design, carve and print using linoleum. Create prints on cards or fabric to make beautiful hand‐made gifts. You will be equipped with the skills to continue printing at home. Bring in your own cotton fabric for printing (i.e. T-shirt) Additional $20 materials fee, payable to the instructor. Tues. Aug. 4 & Wed. Aug. 5 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm (each day) Artists meet to work on artworks in any medium under the guidance of a professional artist. One‐on‐one feedback and peer review will enable you to develop your piece further. A class for students interested in painting outdoors using loose brushwork in oils, acrylics or watercolour. Tues. June 30 and/or Sat., Aug. 15 9:30 am ‐ 3:30 pm SU3 Painting with Soft Pastels All Levels Marvyn Rivett SW3 Abstract Impressions Lenore Walker Creating landscapes with paint may be intimidating but using chalk pastels can be a marvelous and forgiving medium by which to explore this subject matter. Learn about substrates, viewing landscapes in new ways, rendering interesting textural pastel applications and playing with colour. Please bring a few photographic references to inspire you. Tues. Aug. 18 & Tues. Aug. 25 6:30 pm ‐ 9:30 pm (each day) Using different brands of pastels and pastel papers, you will learn a variety of underpainting techniques to add depth and “pop” to paintings. Try before you buy - the instructor will provide a variety of supplies to try in class. Additional $10 materials fee, payable to the instructor. Thursdays, June 11 - July 9 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Rothko, Newman, Frankenthaler and Still were amongst the foremost Abstract Expressionist painters of the 1940's‐50's. In this workshop we'll learn about each artist's work and have the chance to explore/adapt their methods to our own. An understanding of basic colour theory is beneficial. Tues. July 21 & Tues. July 28 6:30 pm ‐ 9:30 pm SU4 Art For Those That Think They Can’t Susan Wintrop Beginners SW4 Painting Light & Shadow All Levels Julie Ponesse This course is designed for artists of all levels who wish to improve their drawing skills. Students will develop fundamental skills in line drawing, contour, shading, perspective and proportion using pencil and charcoal; both indoors & out. Mondays, June 8 – July 6 9:00 am – 12:00 pm SU2 Evening Open Studio Wayne Corlis All Levels Have you taken art classes and come away feeling disappointed, but not completely without hope? This class starts right at the beginning and incrementally adds to your knowledge and experience through class projects that we all do together. You’ll journey from one end to the other and be surprised that you created such a worthy painting. Optional $25 materials kit, payable to the instructor. Monday to Friday, June 22 – 26 9:00 am – 12:00 pm SU5 Try Everything! Susan Wintrop All Levels In this “art camp”, every day will have a new and different painting project that is designed to break us out of painting ruts and introduce new techniques & possibilities. Monday to Friday, July 6 - 10 9:00 am – 12:00 pm All Levels The impressionist Renoir is quoted as saying “No shadow is black, it always has a colour.” This 1 ½ day workshop will include colour theory instruction, how to mix paint using a limited palette, simple exercises, and the chance to complete a small painted building on these colour principles from start to finish. Sat. July 11 9:30am – 3:30pm & Sun. July 12 1:00 – 4:00pm SW5 Mask Making Tamara Plugers All Levels Create a beautiful decorative mask using Paverpol, a unique fabric hardening medium with a certified Paverpol instructor. Bring an old, white 100% cotton T‐shirt & costume jewellery. Additional $15 materials fee, payable to the instructor. Tues.
