Mission Statement: Learn, Believe, Achieve, Succeed!
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
Thank you very much for attending our Open House and Book Fair. Both events were very
successful thanks to you!
Throughout the school year we continue our Northampton Gives Back Programs. We have
many opportunities for our students and families to get involved in giving to our community. If
your child is actively involved in a charity please send us pictures and information to post here
at school so we can acknowledge their contributions! One of our ongoing programs is collecting
soft drink tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. We would like to send out our appreciation to
all who have donated to this cause especially Jonathan Tomayer who recently brought us in several large bags of tabs. Thank you Jonathan and your family for this wonderful donation!
Congratulations to our Destination Imagination teams from Northampton. Teams S.M.A.R.D.,
Super Sonic Sounds, The Diamonds, and Once Upon A Time, recently competed in the Regional
tournament at Tomball HS. We are very proud of our teams and all the hard work they put in.
For the protection of our students, faculty, and staff here at Northampton we ask that you
present your identification each time you visit our campus. We have many new faces and it is
important to be able to properly identify everyone on our campus. We appreciate your help and
patience in keeping everyone safe.
Our students are working very hard and look forward to a successful STAAR testing year.
STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) testing will begin for our 4th and
5th graders this month. Writing/Language testing for 4th grade will be on March 30th and 31st.
Reading testing for 5th grade will be on March 31st. The campus will be closed for all visitors on
testing days.
Your continued support of our school and programs is greatly appreciated. Our faculty
and staff are here to serve you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions
or concerns.
Your partner in education,
Evelyn Castillo

campus with you as part of Klein Independent School District’s obligations under the federal No
Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). Federal Report Cards for the state as a whole, the district,
and each of the district’s campuses are now available on the district’s web site at this link:

If you have difficulty accessing the information from the web site, hard copies of the reports are
available through the campus principal’s office.
Smoking on School Grounds is Prohibited
This is a reminder that school property is a smoke free zone. The District prohibits smoking or the
use of smokeless tobacco on District property at any time, both indoors and outdoors. Please remind all other adults that may be dropping off or picking up your children. Thank you for your cooperation.
A Note from the School Nurse
Vision Screening has been completed. If your student received a vision referral form,
please have them seen by your family eye doctor as soon as possible. We have to
screen students twice before we are able to refer them for professional screening.
Please keep in mind that a student who cannot see may miss important information in
class. You have only one set of eyes, please take good care of them.
Immunizations:
Fifth grade students going into middle school will be required to have Tdap(Tetanus, diphtheria &
acellular pertussis) and Meningococcal Vaccine by 7th grade or 11 years of age. If your student has
had this already while in 5th grade, please send a copy of their immunization record to the clinic so
that it can be documented before they go into intermediate school.
Thank you,

Want to help pick our school colors? Do you have a
great idea about our mascot? Maybe you have a question about French Elementary that you would like
for me to answer. Go to www.kleinisd.net and click
on our campus. Take the survey at the bottom of the
page and let me hear from you.
Why Are We Named French Elementary?
In the 1800’s many people settled in
the Klein area. Some of these families
were German and some were French.
The French School opened about1919
in this area. French Elementary is
named for some of these pioneer families that helped to settle the Klein community. The families that we will be
honoring are:
Arceneaux
LeLeux
Bonin
Melancon
Boudreaux
Pevateaux
Boulet
Pillot
DeChaumes
Roland
Haggerty
Sellers
Henry

Northampton Spring Carnival Silent Auction
The annual Northampton Spring Carnival is almost here! This year, our Spring Carnival Silent
Auction will include baskets filled with items gathered by classrooms in each grade level. With your
help, we can create appealing baskets that will help raise funds for future PFO efforts. We would like
to gather enough items for two baskets per grade level. Each of the grade level baskets has a theme.
Pre-K and Kindergarten – Superhero and Princess
Baskets will include a selection of various Superhero and/or Princess themed items including
action figures, dolls, t-shirts, trading cards, pencils, erasers, etc.
1st Grade - Pool Party and Camping
Baskets will include a selection of various pool and camping items such as sunscreen, towels,
plastic glasses, pool toys, BBQ sets, camping gear, etc.
2nd Grade - Arts and Crafts and Legos
Baskets will include a selection of various arts/crafts items such as paint, pencils, craft paper,
pens, string, glue, clay, beads, etc. Lego items might include Lego action figures and assembly
kits.
3rd Grade – Family Game Night
Baskets will include a selection of various board games such as Monopoly, Sorry!, Clue, and
Chutes and Ladders and may include other game related items such as playing cards, chips,
and dice.
4th Grade – Family Movie Night
Baskets will include a selection of various items such a microwave popcorn, candy, bowls,
DVDs, theater gift cards, and movie night themed items such as posters, memorabilia, etc.
5th - Favorite College/University Memorabilia and Gift Cards
One or more baskets will include a selection of items from favorite colleges and universities
such as towels, cups, hats, mugs, shirts, stickers, etc. Gift Card basket(s) will include a variety
of gift cards from restaurants, stores, specialty shops, theaters, arcades, etc.
The Spring Carnival and the Silent Auction help raise funds for the Northampton PFO and allow us
to help with the costs associated with a variety of enrichment programs and equipment. We need
your help to create the baskets.
You may bring in an item related to one or more grade level basket themes. Many families enjoy
shopping for a special item for the basket.
OR
You may donate $$ and the PFO volunteers will pool resources and go out and buy appropriate
items. If you choose this option, please put your donation in an envelope marked: Northampton PFO.
Please bring all items and/or donations to the school and give them to your teacher or the Front
Office by Wednesday, March 25th. Checks should be made out to NORTHAMPTON PFO.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone at the Northampton Spring Carnival.

Dear Parents,
Growth and development are moving quickly in the Klein ISD, as more families and companies continue to
move to the area. The district worked on a capital needs plan for more than a year, and a 120-member Bond
Steering Committee comprised of parents, community members, students and employees spent four months
in the fall of 2014 studying demographic and capital needs data to develop a bond blueprint.
At the Jan. 12 board meeting, the Trustees unanimously approved a bond referendum for May 9, 2015 in the
amount of $498.1 million to address five general categories of items in the bond blueprint package that will
impact all Klein ISD campuses. They include growth, facility renovations, safety & security, technology and
buses.
The Communications and Planning team developed a bond video that provides an overview of these five
areas. Please visit www.kleinisd.net and click on 2015 Bond Election Information to view the video.
The district has a wealth of additional information on the bond election website including how each campus
will be impacted by the bond.
There is also a section on Frequently Asked Questions that provides great information on a variety of bond,
growth and tax related information.
Additionally, the district has a two-way communication tool called Let’s Talk designed for staff and community
members to ask their specific bond related questions. (Show the Let’s Talk section) If you have specific
questions or concerns, please send them to the district using this tool.
I want to encourage each of you to register to vote if you are not currently registered. Deadline to register for
this this bond vote is April 9, 2015. Forms are available Northampton at our Visitor’s Center by the front door.
Forms are also available in the main office or at www.texasvotes.org. If you recently moved or had a name
change, make sure to update your registration information to match your Texas driver’s license. This is
available online at www.harrisvotes.org.
Please do not hesitate to contact me I you have any questions regarding the Bond.
Sincerely,
Evelyn Castillo
